I was done with what I was doing at Silverclaw..that was my personal palace, the one place I went when I didn’t want council bullshit breathing down my neck.
“Drexel,” Dex called from within, voice sharp.
“What’s it?”
“Ryvessa is in trouble. You need to find out what’s happening right now.”
I didn’t let him finish. The mate bond hit me like a blade, pain ripping through my chest, sharp and hot, like someone had torn a piece of me away.
I teleported straight to my room in VDK.
I saw a figure on the bed and thought it was her.
I wrapped my arms around her from behind, buried my face in her neck, and whispered, “I’m right here, baby.
Everything is okay.”
“Why are you so dumb, bro?” Dex snapped.
“You’ve been with her for weeks and you don’t know how she smells?
Or how her body feels in your hands?”
Reality slammed into me.
The scent was wrong, too sweet, too heavy, too familiar in the worst way.
I shoved the figure hard onto the mattress and switched on the light.
Hell.
My worst nightmare.
Alisha.
The one who made me hate love.
The one who made me hate females.
“What the hell are you doing here?” I roared.
She stood slowly, smoothing her dress like she hadn’t just been thrown onto my bed.
“Calm down, Drexel. Calma. I’m back.”
She started circling me, slow, deliberate, hips swaying like she still owned the room.
“I want you,” she purred. “I miss you.
All night I touched myself thinking of you.
I want you inside me, Drexel. We could start over.
Forget any debate we ever had.”
“How easy do you think that is?” I snarled, pushing her away when she got too close.
“You left me for sixteen years, Alisha.
I never loved you. You spelled me.
You knew I loved your sister, yet you killed her! And now you’re back to continue what? The love that was spelled away? Or the obsession you had for me?”
She chuckled, stepping closer anyway.
“I hate her scent on you, don't tell me you still think about her?
Tell me you forgot how you tasted me. Tell me you forgot how I made you moan.
Which woman could do that? I’ve satisfied you all my life, and I’m back to continue, and you dare say it’s not going to be easy?”
I smirked, cold and sharp. “You’re so dumb, Alisha. And I’m dumber if I ever love you again.”
She frowned. I shoved her aside harder.
The bond was messing with me wild, frantic, aching. I needed to find Ryvessa. I f*****g needed to.
I rumbled through my hair. “Where the hell do I start?”
I could faintly talk to her through the mind-link. Fuck...what made her leave here? What happened?
“What’s it, Drexel? Why are you panicking?” Alisha asked.
“Are you foolish? Why are you even here?
And wait, did you see anyone when you got into this room?”
“Oh yeah, I did.
The maid, though. Drexel, you need to set boundaries.
How the hell will a maid be on your bed?” She laughed.
“A what?”
Fuck. That was Ryvessa. I didn’t even think.
I speed-walked to Alisha, grabbed her throat, and slammed her against the wall.
“Give me ten f*****g reasons why I shouldn’t kill you right now, you fool.
What did you say to her? Because I know you’re foolish and loose.
Where did she go?”
She cried, clawing at my hand.
“You’re hurting me, Drexel, please! I swear I didn’t know who she was! I just told her we were dating...that you loved me!”
I strangled harder. “The hell..”
“Ahhh, Drexel, please, you’re going to kill me!”
Strangling her wouldn’t find Ryvessa.
I yanked her to the floor and stormed out.
I mind-linked Sky. He appeared instantly.
“I want you to check every nook and cranny for Ryvessa.
I need to know where she is. I’ll be at Silverclaw. Immediate report, Sky no delay.”
“Yes, Alpha.”
I teleported back to Silverclaw.
Where could she be?
I tried to use my powers to track her nothing. The bond was there, but faint, muffled, like a scream underwater.
I paced the war room, claws digging into my palms.
I needed Ephesus.
But East Cappadocia was too far too much time.
Instead I summoned his spirit.
He appeared in a shimmer of smoke, looking annoyed.
“Please,” I said before he could speak.
“I can’t find Ryvessa. I’ve tried everything. It isn’t working.”
“I doubt your kind of Alpha these days,” he muttered.
“When last was your ritual performed, Drexel? Why don’t you know you’re powerful and shouldn’t be summoning me for little things?”
“I wasn’t listening to the blasphemy.
Cut the crap, Ephesus, and tell me where the f**k she is.”
“You see why I hate speaking with you? Your anger issues are getting worse each day!
How do you even cope with your mate? I’m telling you the basics you need to know, yet you’re shouting.
Where is she? What if I decide not to tell you? How are you going to find her?”
I dragged his cloak. “Ephesus. Just tell me where she is. Please. She’s in huge danger.”
He sighed. “Leave my clothes, Drexel, and stop acting like a fool.
She’s in your rival’s kingdom.”
He vanished before I could ask more.
My rival?
Who else but that bastard Draven.
My rage spiked, pulse thundering, breath ragged.
If you dare touch her, Draven… I’ll kill you and burn your godforsaken kingdom to ashes.
