Not a word till we dropped Eva at her house. My night was dark and the house was empty. My parents were still at the festival which leads the good time of solitude. Contemplating with re-heated pizza or lasagna, I opted for the earlier.
What's best than eating a pizza alone with such a cozy setting?
The door bell rang disturbing my perfect date with myself. It wasn't my parents cause I couldn't hear engines that lead to one person.
"What do you want now?", I asked with a bored expression leaning on the doorframe, with my hands tied in my chest. He brushed past without a reply which was usual of him and infuriating.
"Mom made pie", he said setting the boxes in the kitchen and started eating my reheated pizza.
Oh, not my pizza.
I ran and snatched away the plate glaring at him for his daring move. Nobody, literally nobody mess with my food.
"Geez calm down. I was going to take a bite", Jordan said slightly annoyed by my rude action.
"It didn't seem like that . If I were a second late, you would've breathed the entire plate. Sorry dude I am not gonna let that happen", I cooed pushing the rest of the pizza into my mouth.
He brought the pie and set them in a plate. "What are you doing?", I asked confused.
"Eating the pie", I dropped my plate and ran to him taking the pie.
"No no no. Those pies are for me", I whined. He took the plate from me. "No, pizza you. Pie me", he said pointing at the now-thrown pizza. "But your mom made it for me"
"My mom made is true but I never said it is for you", he smirked settling in the couch. "That's not fair Jordan", I exasperated trying to get a molecule of pie. Nope, he wasn't having it. I had to painfully watch him devour the last pie.
He smiled proudly after finishing the food and grabbed the remote, "That was very delicious".
I hit him in the shoulder with a playful smile.
We were into Beauty and the Beast when the question popped in my mind. "So you forgave Eva?", I was quick to notice the evil smile threatening to form. "You better watch it", that was the last sentence he formed before we both passed out on the couch.
Somewhere in the middle of the night I went to my room leaving Jordan behind. The light seeping under the door indicated that my parents were home.
I opened my door, strolled inside without turning on the switch. I could feel the change in vibration. It felt unfamiliar. My eyes were adjusting to the darkness when I noticed a movement towards my bed.
My heart started thumping at the possible intruder. I slowly moved towards the bed holding my breathe.
My world stopped when I saw the cloak standing gigantically beside my bed. I could feel it's eyes on me through the hood. When I snapped from the shock, I hit the light buttons like a lightening and grabbed my dad's baseball bat.
It was gone. Whatever that was in there, it was gone. The feeling of familiarity took over. I was safe and about to go crazy over the fact that my hallucinations were coming strong these days.
~~~
It was a tired morning. Everyone was grumpy from lack of sleep. Jordan and I walked past the school gates. James was waiting for us or for Jordan but still he was there. Cue to my butterflies, my heart skipped a beat when the light breeze danced along his hair revealing his perfect forehead.
"Hey Grace", James was a charmer, no doubt in that. The attention he gave to every detail and the damn smile, I'd die for it.
"Hey Jamie", I replied shyly tucking my hair behind my ears.
As I said, James was a casual charmer. He left me hanging after grabbing Jordan for practice. The world turned boring as I strolled through the hallways. My locker was in the middle of no where next to my arch nemesis, Crystal.
Crystal Marcus, cute and pretty, beauty and mind. To me, vile and bully. Every single word that came out of her was a venom. Even Eva didn't believe when I told how I had saved my long straight hair from being cut by her. That was a narrow escape, by the way.
Eva was the only one who knew about my bully situation. Except for that hair incident, Crystal was all talk.
Speak of the devil, I could see Crystal gracefully making her way towards the locker. I fumbled through mine taking all the books required for the classes.
Blame her long legs, she stopped right when I closed my locker. "Hey, Grace", she said rolling her eyes. "Hey", I replied blatantly.
"I wanted to ask you something. I have a cousin who's in your size and I don't know where they are producing clothes for your size. Do you have any recommendation", the fake voice tore my poor ear drums. That was her way to taunt about my body. Okay, I accept, she had like non-existent waist and sexy legs but I was curvy and didn't even go into plus size yet.
"I'll inform when I found one", I replied as my legs carried me to my class.
Eva was sitting along the window with her earphones on. I plucked one out shocking her.
"Jesus, Grace", she sounded surprised with her hands on her chest, above her heart.
I apologized smugly and settled beside her. She was playing with her fingers which meant she was nervous and I knew why.
"What did Jordan do this time?". She looked at me shocked at how I figured. Perks of being intelligent and knowing about Jordan in atom level. That guy had to end to prank wars.
She slumped into the chair with a sigh. "Jordan filled my dad's car with paint bomb and it exploded on his way to office. I am grounded for being such a brat". I broke out laughing. The image of Eva's dad covered in paint had tears in me.
Eva hit me and I held my breathe to stop laughing but only failed as my imagination was more funnier than Eva's expression.
I looked through the window watching the soccer boys walking to their classes and Jordan had that proud smirk in his face.
