Episode1__The Rejection
The mating ceremony was supposed to be the happiest night of Lila Grey’s life.
Instead, it became the night that destroyed her.
The grand hall of Silver Ridge Pack glowed beneath golden lights while wolves filled every corner, whispering excitedly about Alpha Kael’s official mate announcement.
Lila stood near the back, nervousness twisting in her stomach.
Tonight would finally prove she wasn’t crazy.
For years, she had felt connected to Kael in ways she couldn’t explain. Every time he came close, her heart reacted strangely. Every glance from him made her chest tighten.
She believed fate had chosen him for her.
Even if he never treated her kindly.
Even if he always looked annoyed whenever she approached him.
Still… she loved him.
A sudden silence filled the hall.
Alpha Kael entered.
Tall. Cold. Powerful.
Every wolf immediately lowered their heads in respect.
Lila’s breath caught as his dark eyes scanned the room before stopping on her.
Her heartbeat instantly accelerated.
That familiar pull returned again.
Warm.
Painful.
Addictive.
Mate, her heart whispered.
Kael’s expression darkened.
For a second, something unreadable flashed in his eyes before disappearing completely.
The High Priest stepped forward.
“Tonight,” the old priest announced loudly, “the Moon Goddess reveals the Alpha’s destined mate.”
The hall erupted with excitement.
Lila’s palms became sweaty.
Her entire body trembled with hope.
The priest slowly turned toward her.
“You,” he declared.
Gasps filled the room.
Lila froze.
Then happiness exploded inside her chest.
It was true.
She was really Alpha Kael’s mate.
But before she could even smile—
Kael spoke coldly.
“No.”
The hall became silent again.
Lila blinked in confusion.
Kael walked toward her slowly, his expression hard and emotionless.
“I reject her.”
The words struck like knives.
Her lips parted slightly.
“W-What…?”
Kael stopped directly in front of her.
“You are weak,” he said without mercy. “You embarrass this pack.”
Every wolf stared at her.
Some whispered.
Some laughed quietly.
Lila felt tears burn her eyes, but she refused to cry.
Not here.
Not in front of everyone.
“But… we’re mates,” she whispered painfully.
Kael’s jaw tightened.
“I would rather remain alone forever than accept someone like you as my Luna.”
The humiliation hit harder than the rejection itself.
The hall burst into murmurs.
Lila’s chest hurt so badly she could barely breathe.
Still, she looked at him desperately.
Maybe he was angry.
Maybe he didn’t mean it.
Maybe if she tried harder—
“I reject you, Lila Grey.”
This time, his voice carried absolute finality.
The mate bond inside her cracked painfully.
A sharp ache tore through her body.
Lila staggered backward slightly, gripping her chest.
Yet strangely…
The connection didn’t disappear completely.
Something remained.
Weak.
Hidden.
Watching.
The High Priest quickly stepped forward before anyone noticed.
“The bond is broken,” he announced immediately.
Kael turned away from her without another glance.
Like she meant absolutely nothing.
And that hurt the most.
Lila stood there alone while the entire pack watched her humiliation unfold.
At that moment, she silently promised herself one thing:
One day…
She would stop loving Alpha Kael.
Even if it killed her first.
