Martha's p.o.v
"Father I love this house so much." He exclaimed and pulled back lifting his hands in the air happily.
Father?. The fact that he was calling him father wasn't right. Well, he was my son but he wasn't his.
"Tom come here," Sonny whispered while kneeling down.
So he was Tom. My son's name was Tom!. The name was rather odd but it fit him perfectly well.
He slowly moved closer and stood in front of him. Sonny lifted his hand and put it on his shoulder.
"Remember that day I told you how you would go with your mother leaving me behind?" He asked surprising me.
"You promised me you would do it." He whispered as Tom gasped loudly and shook his head.
"Sonny, what are you doing?" I asked quickly.
My heart was beating rapidly and aching.
"Father I can't leave you behind?" Tom said in a cracked voice.
"Yes, you will. Remember that a man does not go back on his words no matter what. You will go with your mother as you had promised me. Even if I won't be where you will be, just always remember that I love you." He whispered with tears in his eyes.
"Also, keep your mother safe for me." He said huskily as a tear rolled on his cheek.
My heart was aching badly at the sight of him shading a tear.
"Sonny I..."
"I don't want to go, please Father don't make me go." Tom sobbed cutting me off.
"Is it because I refused to call her mother right away?. But I did, I called her mother all the time. Please father don't send me away. I am sorry if I got you upset, father please, I will never upset you again." He cried as tears rolled on my cheeks.
"Stop it Tom, we talked about this day and you promised." He said huskily.
Tom turned and ran to me holding my waist tightly.
"Mother please, I don't want to leave father. I don't want to. Please don't make me." He sobbed loudly.
I weakly knelt down and embraced him with tears.
"And who said that I was separating you from him?" I asked as Sonny stood up.
"Honey I can never do that no matter what. We will stay here, right in this beautiful place with your father okay?" I asked softly.
He pulled back and smiled while nodding.
"Just look at you. You are already a big boy, yet you are crying with no shame, big boys don't cry." I teased as I wiped off his tears slowly.
"Well, Dad is also crying." He pointed out.
I looked at Sonny and saw him quickly wipe off his tears.
"Both of you stop crying because no one is going anywhere. Dorcus, put back my luggage in my room please." I said with a smile.
"Now son, let's go upstairs, I'm dying to see which room you will pick as your bedroom." I said happily then stood up.
He grabbed my hand and started running.
"Mother run." He said loudly.
I laughed and ran with him inside the house and upstairs into the fourth spare bedroom.
When he let go of my hand, I quickly wiped off my tears.
"I love this one." He said cheerfully.
I looked around and saw that the room wasn't bad at all. What it needed were a few minor touches of perfection.
"Nice choice honey, this room is big and nicely designed but it needs to be perfected. Wouldn't you love to have toys? You know, a few cars and trains on the shelf." I asked.
"I would love that." He exclaimed happily.
I was about to tell him that I will fix it for him right away when a knock interrupted me.
Tom quickly rushed there and opened it. two ladies stepped in.
"Gift, Hellen!" Tom screamed happily and hugged them tightly.
I felt anger towards them and envy. He was my son, why the hell did he seem way comfortable with them.
"Who are you and how did you get in here?" I asked seriously.
"Sorry for the late introduction. My name is Gift and this beside me is called Hellen." A tall blonde answered in a respectful tone.
"That still doesn't answer why you are here doesn't it?" I asked coldly.
"We were hired by Mr Andrews to take care of Tom." The brunette who was Hellen answered.
I was about to reject their so-called words when Sonny walked in.
"Tom go and eat something. Gift make sure he eats well okay." He said simply.
"Yes sir." She answered then got Tom's hand and went downstairs with Hellen beside them.
"Who are they?" I asked seriously.
"Martha look, I know that you think I convinced Tom to stay behind when I didn't. That's why I'll try and convince him to leave again tomorrow, I promise." He said sadly.
I felt horrible, just remembering how he had cried for Tom made my heart fluster and break for him.
"Sonny Just stop, I know you didn't tell him to stay. And we both know how it would break your heart if I was to leave with him. Did you raise him?" I asked sadly.
"Well, I adopted him when he was three. Gift and Hellen raised him for five years. I just visited him once a week. He stayed in one of my houses." He answered with a low sigh.
"I see, that's why he seems to be way more comfortable with those two ladies." I whispered.
"So does Tom think you are his biological father?" I asked.
"No, he knows that he was adopted by me." He answered seriously.
"I see, then you must really mean a lot to him." I whispered.
"You also mean a lot to him, Martha. He just doesn't know that yet." He answered softly.
I smiled and moved closer.
"I'm just so happy to have him." I said honestly.
"I know, so when will you go for a DNA test?" He asked surprising me.
"Why should I?" I asked seriously.
"I suggest you do Martha." He said simply then took a step back.
I didn't want to admit it but he was right. I needed to take a DNA test just to be sure that Tom was really my son.
"You might not Love me Martha, but I do love you very much, that's why I want you to be happy." He said sadly then brushed his hand through his hair.
"I know," I answered as tears filled my eyes.
There was no denying how he was always so kind to me. If it was some other guy. I would have been beaten up for all the disrespect I had showed.
Moreover, I could have never had my son next to me and back in my arms.
