MARGARET  I stood in front of the study door, my hand raised, ready to knock. My heart was beating fast. I took a deep breath and gently knocked. “Come in,” I heard my father’s voice from inside. Slowly, I opened the door and stepped in. My eyes first landed on him—Alpha Victor, my father—sitting behind his big wooden desk. Across from him sat Beta Marlon. They both looked serious, deep in talk about something important. I hesitated for a second, but then they both turned their eyes toward me. As soon as my father saw me, his expression changed.
