ALPHA ZAYN  I stood there, watching her run. Darlene didn’t look back, not even once. Her steps were quick and shaky as she rushed into the kitchen like she was running from something dangerous. I knew what it was—fear. Not fear of the woods or the cliff… but fear of someone in this mansion. I sighed deeply. “She almost fell off the cliff,” I finally said, still looking at the door she just ran through. Alpha Jerry and Alpha Leonard, who had been standing beside me, both turned sharply. “What did you say?” Jerry asked. I slowly turned to them. “She almost fell.” Leonard’s eyes narrowed. “Darlene?” “Yes.” I nodded. “She and Cindy were in the forest. Picking fruit.” “In the forest?” Jerry asked. “Why was she there?” “I don’t know,” I replied. “She was walking on the rocky part.
