The remainder of the day slipped by in a blur as Joana's mind whirled with thoughts of her new agreement with Elijah. Remarkably, Michaela didn't appear to notice any change in Joana's demeanor as she assisted her with her daily routine and attended to her lessons. If she did perceive anything amiss, she chose not to comment on it.
However, doubts lingered. Was this a reckless decision? The last time Elijah and Joana had slept together, it evoked a one-night stand and an ensuing argument.
