Joana POV.
"Have you made a decision?" the doctor inquired.
Feeling utterly overwhelmed, Joana cried even harder. The doctor remained silent, allowing her to release her emotions. Once she could speak through her sobs, she gazed up at him and shook her head.
"I can't go through with it," she uttered, each word fraught with emotion as her chest heaved, her lungs feeling strained. "I don't want to proceed with the abortion."
Nodding understandingly, the doctor responded, "Okay then. You don't have to go through with it."
He excused himself to allow Joana to dress. As she did, she sensed Lira's exuberance within her, prompting a gentle smile. After getting dressed, she headed back to the elevator with the intent of calling a cab home, as Elijah believed she would be staying overnight.
