It been a week and I’ve been settling down just fine. Although I haven’t had any interactions with Kian., to my utter dismay. We currently have a wrestling class. I lifted my opponent, hitting him on the wrestling foam. The students around us cheered us on. A trickle of sweat rolled down my neck as I breathed deeply.
“The winner is Freya Hunter,” Mr. Mason, the fitness teacher, announced, recording it in his book.
“Next up is Rain and Anna,” Mr. Mason called, looking at the list in his hand.
I stepped out of the ring, feeling anxious for Anna. I didn’t know how she would fare in this fight as it was very unfair in terms of strength. My eyes followed her as she entered the ring.
The door was pushed open suddenly, and Kian walked in, filling the room with cold air. My stomach summersaulted in excitement. I could feel my body tingling from the fact that he was in the same room with me.
Oliver followed behind him as usual. In my three days here, I’ve observed that wherever Kian was, Oliver must be present. Although I’ve rarely seen Kian these past few days. My back stiffened as I inhaled his scent, making my mouth water. I berated myself over this.
Kian walked into the room as if he owned it, earning a glance from the teacher who said nothing.
“Well, look who made it to class,” Marcus mocked, smirking.
“Who let the snake out of the bag?” Oliver retorted, earning laughter from the crowd.
I couldn’t help smiling too because we think alike. Kian said nothing and stood before the ring, looking seriously at Rain and Anna who stood inside it. He didn’t spare me a glance, and my heart ached at the thought that he was here for Rain. I hated this feeling, and my eyes flashed with disgust.
Anna threw a clean punch on Rain's face, shocking the audience watching. Rain's face twisted with anger, and she returned it, slamming Anna into the platform. Fortunately, the rules were that we couldn’t use our abilities during the lesson; otherwise, Anna would be at a great disadvantage.
Anna stood up slowly, holding her stomach in pain. She dodged Rain’s attack, hitting the back of her legs, which earned a grunt from Rain. Rain got angry and hit her with vengeance, finally emerging as the winner, but Anna did more than I expected.
I moved forward to help Anna out of the ring, aware of the cold air behind me.
“Well, that’s the end of the class today,” Mr. Mason said, the student groaned at his words as they enjoyed fighting.
Most people filed out of the room. I held Anna’s hand, leading her out of the room.
A tall figure blocked my way. I looked up to see who it was, and lo and behold, it was Marcus.
He grabbed my hand, shouting, “Freya is mine,” with a devilish smirk on his face. The room went silent as everyone gasped at his words, watching the show. This earned a glare from me.
“Drop her hands,” Kian said coldly, landing a punch on Marcus's face, which started a fight between them.
I got confused at this as the hall became very rowdy. I was not a commodity; I was my own person, and I did not care about them. I wanted to scream this badly. Why did Kian react the way he did.
“Freya, move this way,” Oliver said to me as I stood there in a daze with Anna beside me, who was equally shocked. He led us out of the class safely, and I got a glimpse of Kian slamming Marcus into the wall.
Abby ran toward me, “What the hell is happening?” She asked, glaring hard at Oliver.
“I have no freaking idea,” I said, feeling slightly annoyed and uncomfortable. I could feel eyes on me and murmuring. I just knew everyone would be talking about this the next day.
“Witch,” Oliver called out with hate, his eyes alternating colors.
“Dog,” Abby said with disgust, earning a wicked smirk from Oliver.
I looked at both of them, feeling the undercurrent between them waiting to explode. Anna seemed used to it as she just held herself weakly, smiling softly.
“Let’s take Anna to the Infirmary first. That fight happening over there has nothing to do with me,” I said out loud, moving forward with Anna and Abby in tow.
“Bye, loser,” Abby tossed out to Oliver, feeling good at having the last word.
As soon as we were out of sight, I asked Abby, “What was going on back there with Oliver?”
“I have no idea,” Abby replied with a secretive smile.
We took Anna back to the room after getting the go-ahead from the nurse. We all slumped on our beds feeling tired.
“Freya,” Abby called out, “The Full Moon ceremony is in two days. Please avoid the werewolves as they are usually very rowdy. It’s better if you stay indoors during this period. The vampires act out too during the full moon.”
“Full Moon Ceremony?” I had only heard about it but seeing it physically left me kind of excited.
“Yes, so please be careful” Abby said maintain eye contact with me.
“Oh, okay, I got it. Where will you be then?”
“We have a witch fellowship on campus, and we meet up during the full moon to make potions and cast spells,” Abby said with a smile.
“You can come with me to the Library after the school party; that’s where I usually spend my time during full moons,” Anna offered.
“There is a party?” Now this sounded like a fairytale.
“uhhmmm…..The school normally have this cute ball where we listen to speeches about the empire and we dance before the werewolves begin their things. This allows everyone to feel included.
“Okay,” I acknowledged, feeling nervous about that day while my thoughts drifted to Kian.
