My eyes fluttered open as I tried to sit upright. "Oh, she is awake," I heard Abby's voice. It felt as if something ran through my body.
I gasped at the pain as I touched my neck. "How do you feel?" Anna asked, worried.
"What happened?" I couldn't remember what happened clearly.
"Don't you remember, Kian bit you," Abby said with a sad smile. The images flashed through my head, and cold filled my heart.
"Where is he?" I asked. I felt angry that he bit me without my permission. How was I going to explain it to my dad?
"He is currently facing the council."
"The council?" I gasped in shock. It looks like it was serious.
"Just two are here. Werewolves do not roll with the hunter clan." Ms. Wincroft walked in with a stern look on her face.
"How do you feel now, Freya?" She asked
"I feel better," I said.
"Good, the council wants to meet with you." Three eyes stared at Miss Wincroft in shock as she said those words.
I walked to the hall behind Ms. Wincroft. A lot of thoughts were running in my head. My skin tightened as I drew closer to the room. I knew he was inside.
I walked in and was immediately aware of him. The hairs on my arms stood, and I could feel my chest area tightening, making me feel embarrassed.
My eyes met with his, and I could see regret in his eyes. Was he regretting the mark he put on my body? My heart grew heavy at those thoughts. I felt annoyed at myself.
"Freya Hunter," Elder Gale called, his eyes piercing into my soul.
"My lord," I bowed my head, trying to be respectful.
"You will return to Red Moon pack during the weekend to learn how to be a Luna and back to the dormitory during school days. The same goes for Kian. Both of your parents have been informed about this."
My heart was in my throat as I imagined how my father would react to hearing this news.
"Kian would head to the hunter clan to pass the test. Usually, mates need to get married immediately, but as students, you must finish your studies first before other things," Elder Gale announced with a small smile.
"However, you will be living together for the time being while you await further decision from the council." I stood in shock as I watched them walk out of the room. What do they mean by living together?
"Freya, I'm sorry," Kian said, breaking the silence. I didn't want to hear such words from him. I turned to look at him, my chest heaving.
"If you were sorry, you shouldn't have bitten me." His beautiful eyes turned to look at my neck.
"I'm sorry I hurt you. I'm not sorry for marking you. You are my mate," he gave me a seething look as if he wanted to merge my bones with his. His words made me happy, and I could feel the connection between us. The intensity of it left me breathless.
"I would never accept this," Rain shouted, walking into the room, breaking the connection. I turned to look at her.
"You are incompetent to be the Luna of Red Moon Pack, a hunter," her face twisted with disgust.
"Whether you like it or not, she is my mate," Kian responded. His words brought tears to her eyes.
"We are childhood sweethearts. You broke our relationship," Rain pointed at me, leaving me surprised.
"I also don't want this bond. I didn't ask for it," I wanted to scream badly at her. I could feel the hurt coming from Kian, but I refused to look at him.
"I, River Silver, challenge you, Freya Hunter, to a fight," Rain said, shocking everyone present.
"Rain, stop this madness. Freya is my mate," Kian's eyes flickered back and forth. I felt uncomfortable that I could feel his emotions.
I looked at her calmly and said, "I, Freya Hunter, accept your challenge." I could hear the gasp from the students who had filled the hallway.
