“Excellent. Open throttles, get us off this hunk of rock.”
“Yes, sir.”
The craft began to move. Then the co-pilot frowned. “Are we running a diagnostic?”
“I didn’t order one. Why would I, at a time like this?”
“That’s what I thought. Why is all this data running?”
“What data?” The captain looked over, studied the screen. “What the hell is going on?”
“I don’t know. It’s just started.”
“Look here.” The captain tapped the screen. “This is secure data. Earth defences, how our military systems are deployed. Why is this running? How is this stuff coming through here? We’re not even connected to Earth systems.”
