Damascus was moving down the ramp before it has stopped moving downwards. A few minutes later, she arrived where she had left Angela and Dutton.
There was no one there. Nonplussed, she trotted back to the ship, oblivious to everybody piling out.
“Where the hell is she?”
“I hate to ask this of you, but where is my patient?”
“I left them right here, sir. I don’t…”
“Hey, Lieutenant?”
She spun at the unexpected sound of the voice but smiled.
“Please, Dutton, don’t do that. I’m just a weak female. I can’t take too much of that sort of thing. How’s my baby?”
“Exactly as you left her. Nothing has changed. Who’s this?”
“I am Surgeon Commander Jordan, and
