“Damascus. They’re ready for you, now.”
She looked up, saw the two armed guards standing before her. She nodded.
“I’m ready.”
She picked up her hat, rubbed the small piece of cloth over the black plastic peak, placed the hat square on her head, and stood by the barrier.
The warder tapped in a code, and the bars disappeared. Damascus stepped out, waited for the guards to take up station on each side of her.
“Okay. Let’s go.”
