Ralph had no idea of creating or engaging in violence during the morning when Frankie was to be planted. Neither did Ross. Neither of them anticipated violence but both would be ready if it came. They discussed the possibilities the night prior to the funeral. One man knew it would be a good time, the man being Tom Raiford. Even he was not sure a situation might arise which could end in violence, and the deaths of Ross Hendershot and Ralph Forney. All Tom Raiford could do was be prepared in case they were there, think how he might bring a confrontation about, and then take advantage of a circumstance no one could have anticipated.
