Everything was quiet in Yuma for the next several weeks. Dan Perkins had a long conversation with Ross and Ralph after the incident at the cemetery. The incident became legend all over the territory within a matter of days. Those who lived in Yuma who thought of Jeremy Grant as a good man gave Ralph Forney a wide berth on the streets. Those whose attitude was supportive of what Ralph had done would go out of their way to shake his hand or tip their hat to him on the streets. The word of the beating he gave to Tom Raiford became an interstate matter within days. Drummers from California would arrive in town, set up their wagon load of wares and ask from their customers “Is it true what happened here a few weeks ago?
