Lily Pov
I sat in front of the broken mirror in my room with my eyes staring right at my reflection.
It's been two days and I still can't believe I'm back. I can't believe the mystery of all this.
I raised my fingers and my reflection also did the same, I furrowed my brows and it also did the same, I traced my eyes and those dark and deep eyes stared back at me, as if mocking me for not believing what I saw.
But how could I believe it? How can this be possible?!
I had died! I knew the moment when my body became so weak, when my life was drained away and when my body went limp before I slipped into forever darkness, but—It seemed not to be “forever” because two days ago, I opened my eyes to see the bright light that attacked my eyes and almost made me go blind.
But… How could something mysterious happen in this world?!
No! I don't believe this! I don't believe in this!
My eyes grew sharp and I stood up and picked the blade which lay on the table and without blinking an eye, I slashed my arm which was filled with so many scars with it.
“Sss…Painful….” I hissed from the pain that attacked me, but then, as I looked at the red blood that rushed out of my arm, my mouth went wide in shock, my brain froze and my body trembled and almost fell from weak legs.
It's real… I'm back! I have experienced the world's unbelievable thing—Rebirth!
I’m back to when I was 20 years old, before everything began, and I'm back with my memories intact.
My world was in shock, but more than that, my heart pounded with happiness. My eyes shook, and tears fell, my lips trembled but no words came out, my body slipped down and I fell on the cold floor.
“You heard me, right? You heard my bloodied cry and brought me back…” Words whispered out of my lips, and my eyes stared at the wall in a daze.
Does that mean, my Berlin is still alive?! Then, does that mean I can fight against everything that happened?! And more than all…
A shallow smile appeared on my face. “Does that mean…Berlin can finally be mine?”
“Ahhh!!!” I suddenly screamed out loud. My body fell flat on the floor and the coldness seeped into my weak body but I didn't mind it.
My tears fell like streams, and my mind bounced with so much excitement.
“I’m back… I did it! I came back! Berlin…!!!” I cried out. The words came out shaky but firm, especially the last words, they contained all the love I have for that man, all the pain we both had experienced, all the hatred I felt for those who caused our pain.
I cried so hard and they wouldn't stop coming out. I poured out my feelings until my breathing choked and what came out were hiccups. I continued to lie on the floor that way, until I smelled a stink on my body.
My mind froze, and my nose flared and without thinking much, I stood up and rushed into the poorly built washroom in my room.
I let the cold water pour on me and wash away the sweat and tears.
But, “Why do I smell so badly?” I c****d my head to the side as I tried to recall things, and then, it came rushing in.
Tonight… today…
If I remember correctly, two days ago, I had a terrible fever. I had lain down on the bed, hungry and thirsty but no one had heard my cry.
“Bianca…” My eyes closed with disgust.
She had left 3 nights before and hadn't come home since then, but even if she was home, nothing would have been done, instead, I’d have been beaten and forced to work, but since she wasn't home and I couldn't get help, I could only lie on the bed and hope for the fever to go away.
And then, she came back…
My eyes suddenly went wide from shock, my body stiffened and my insides tangled with so many emotions.
How could it be?! How could I forget a date so important?!
Tonight was the night I’ll get introduced to Berlin as my stepdad! The night she brought him in and the night my life began to see light and warmth.
I finished washing my body and rushed out of the washroom immediately. I ran to the broken mirror and looked at my dainty body and beautiful face, but my eyes were so different, they were now—cold, sharp and indifferent. But at the thought of meeting that man…
“Where is that girl..?! Lily?! Lily!”
My body froze as the sound echoed in the air. My head went blank and my mind exploded with different thoughts.
She is back… Bianca… that's the voice of my mom. I could never mistake that voice, the voice of the person who made my life hell!
Rage filled me, my body trembled from it, my fist clenched tightly and my blood surged with the urge to rush to kill her again, but… I was starting a new life, and it wasn't time yet.
“Lily! Are you pretending not to hear me?! Come down now!!”
Her arrogant and commanding voice sounded again just the way I remembered how it should sound.
My lips curled up in disdain, and my eyes shone with disgust, but I still put on my clothes, not for her but the man I knew was downstairs with the devil.
I walked out of my room but my body just wouldn't move from the door.
I stared at the stairs in a daze and my heart pounded against my ribs like they were about to escape.
Berlin was there! I knew if I took a few steps, I’d see the man I have been dreaming about, the one I love so much, the man I'm obsessed with, but I suddenly felt something else…Fear.
Fear of the unknown. What if he wasn't the one I saw? What if things had changed because of my rebirth? Did he remember his past life too? What if…What if…
My lips trembled, and I finally took a step forward, but then I became stuck again.
My eyes grew hot, and my lips parted, but the only sounds that came out were fear.
“Berlin…”
I murmured and took another step.
My heart pounded and my chest ached with pain and love.
Berlin is waiting for me… I want to see him, love him, hold him and protect him like he did in our past life, but first… I needed to take this step.
I closed my eyes tightly, and let my determination sip in.
“Berlin!!”
With a firm roar in my heart, my legs moved and I rushed down the stairs.
“You’re here?! You lazy girl! I thought you didn't want to listen to me! I’d have gone there to slam you awake!”
The harsh voice of my devilish mum sounded, but I paid no heed to her words, because my eyes could only give attention to the man who sat there majestically like the king he was.
Berlin Cole!
My lips parted, but I could only let out whimpers, my legs shook but they never moved.
“He’s alive! He’s here! Berlin… We finally met again…”
Then tears fell from my eyes. I tried to control it, but they rushed out. He wasn't the bloody covered Berlin, he was here again, just like I remembered.
Suddenly, my body froze. He raised his head and I met those deep, dark eyes of his.
My brain went blank and our eyes just locked in the air.
I felt the world freeze, and felt the tension in the air, but then, a disgusting voice slid through;
“Since you’re here, then come to welcome your stepdad, Berlin Cole!”
