Chapter 12

I watched as they wheeled her away. Pushing hard to hold her wounds to stop all the blood. I waited and waited. It seemed like hours. I didn’t realise I was crying at first. I sat down in the corner and started crying into my hands. I don’t know why I feel so vulnerable but why is this happening?

After a while Luna Liliana came running in and saw me in the corner. She threw her arms around me.

“It’s okay baby, she will be okay.” Luna Liliana said to me.

“There was so much blood.” I cried.

“I know, come on, we will take you to have a shower. She will be fine. By the time we are back she might be out of surgery.” Luna Liliana urged.

I was tired but I obliged.

I followed Luna Liliana as she had her arm around me and walked me towards the pack house.

“Wipe your eyes before we go into the open. You don’t want your father to comment.” Luna Liliana said.

I knew what she meant. Dad thinks mates are bad and they make men weak. But no one will tell me why he said that. All I know is my mother was killed and he could of prevented it if he wasn’t weak. I wiped my eyes a lot but didn’t realise I rubbed her blood onto my face. Everyone stared at me and Luna Liliana. Her white dress had some blood along the side that I was, and where she hugged me. She walked with me towards the house and to my room. She grabbed some clothes and a towel then turned the shower on. Luna Liliana pushed me into the shower with my clothes on and shut the door.

“You wash yourself clean and undress in there. We will wash your clothes when your done. Put the fresh clothes on then meet me downstairs so we can get a snack. We will drive down together after eating and see her.” Luna Liliana said.

I slowly washed as I broke down crying again. Where was Alistair and why wasn’t he showing his face? I took about half an hour to shower and regain composure. Then I went to the kitchen and saw Luna Liliana was wearing a beautiful light blue dress and I looked down.

“I am sorry for ruining your white dress. I didn’t mean to get blood on it.” I said sadly.

“Hey, no it’s okay.” Luna Liliana said as she wrapped her arms around me.

“Now shut up and eat some of this crunchy chicken with me to regain your strength. I know you were exhausted. Alistair told us you ran with her.” Luna Liliana said.

“Where is he? He was meant to meet us at the hospital.” I said sadly.

“Well, Damon you know how he wants to reject her. If he goes there to do it right now, she will die from the pain. And if he comes here without the intention to do it, his wolf will take over and he will have no control over being a mate. He will try to care for her and hold her. We warned him and he didn’t want to make you uncomfortable seeing him in that state as he knows how you feel about her. And if anything he got a bit upset about hurting you in that way. So Alpha Lincoln has taken him away for a night or two. They will be back before you know it. Your dad went with them.” Luna Liliana said.

“So dad isn’t here?” I asked

“He isn’t. It’s just you and me, and you get a couple days off of school. So we can watch a few movies or play some games.” Luna Liliana said with a smile.

“Can I ask you a serious question?” I asked.

“Of course Damon, anything for you.” Luna Liliana replied.

“Why does my dad treat me like a mistake? I have caught on to his behaviour over the past few years.” I replied.

“I don’t think I understand what you mean?” Luna Liliana said.

“Please don’t lie. I heard one day when you and Alpha Lincoln yelled at him to be there for me.” I replied.

“Damon, you have to understand that sometimes grown ups make mistakes. And when he is ready then he will tell you. If he doesn’t tell you when you are eighteen then I will personally tell you.” Luna Liliana replied.

“Can’t I know now?” I asked.

“I am sorry but that isn’t my place.” Luna Liliana replied.

“Please, I won’t tell anyone or let on that I know.” I begged.

“I am sorry Damon but that isn’t my place.” Luna Liliana said.

Luna Liliana started placing her bones from the chicken down on the table. She was spelling out something.

She ended up spelling “SOON” in bones.
