Twinkling lights adorn the houses, The Eve of Christmas, Candles on mantles, Artificial pines, Pining for something, Something hard to define. Magic of moments, Of laughter from children. Joy to a world, Frozen in stillness. A Bard sits alone. John McClain in vents setting the tone. Looking for days that petty squabbles are lessened. A time of miracles and honest confessions. Blessed are the stars. All spread in that lonely, dark sky. Red lights glow like a reindeer nose. Thoughts congest the mind longing for peace. Where is the magic? Where are you, Christmas? When will the feeling return? Maybe it's not a primary concern. Adulthood has rules. Immaturity shows through wonder and excitement. Or perhaps, it's all wrong. Maybe it's as simple as a warm Christmas song . Chestnuts and Nutmeg. Hot cocoa. Tea. Whatever peace and joy are meant to be. Giving hope to others. Sisters and brothers. Needing a universal day, To convey, A sense of compassion. Promising interactions. One day it'll all be ok. A Bard voices aloud. Jingle bells ringing in a scarf-laden crowd. Breath making mist with each puff of air. Watching magic unfold. Watching. And wondering. Has he grown too old? Only time will tell where the path leads. Another holiday coming and going it seems. Lollipops and sugar plums dancing in dreams. Hoping for peace for everyone. Regardless of belief. Time for sleep. Santa doesn't come if you're awake. Exhaustion sinks in. Picturing the future as dreams descend. Merry Christmas to all! Whether foe or friend!!
