Clara’s POV
“Are you okay?” he asked me with his eyes staring into mine. He looked concerned and I couldn’t tell if it was out of pity or something else.
“Thank you, sir.” I bowed.
“I’m sorry for such a reception.” he sighed sadly.
“This might help you.” He said, passing a balm to me. I hesitated before receiving it.
“Thank you so much.” I said.
“Forgive the king, he has been in a bad mood recently.” he informed me politely and I nodded.
Inwardly, I cursed him. He has never been in a good mood.
“Okay.” I said and was about returning to the laundry yard.
He grabbed my hand and I turned to him. When he noticed the atmosphere was almost getting awkward, he cleared his throat before leaving my hand.
“You can return back to your chamber, I will order someone to cover for you.” he informed me seriously.
“What about the king…?” I didn’t finish my question when he interrupted me.
“Don’t worry about that.” he assured me with a bright smile and I nodded.
“Thank you again.” I was a bit relieved and for a minute, I forgot about the ache coming from my buttock.
He was more like a balm to me at that minute, I could feel his gaze on mine as I walked to my chamber.
Nothing prestigious. Just a room with one crappy wooden bed with no blanket.
After a short nap with no disturbance, I had my bath and applied the balm that Kevin had given to me. It worked effectively, more than I had imagined. Before an hour, the pain subsided and I was comfortable.
I opened the window and looked through the palace. It had the best view, especially when the sun was going down. It flashes on the green leaves that continue clapping. It was one enchanting and admirable view, the palace was more amazing than story books and visitors had described it.
Everything was shining with gold and silver, bronze and best wood used for building the Beta, Gamma and Omega tents.
I sighed and closed the window. I loved the quietness and I wished no one would ever remember about me.
Just as I was about to lay on the bed, my stomach grumbled. It has been two days and no one had brought my meal, they were obviously starving me.
I opened the door to see if I could ask any servant for food when I saw someone approaching me. She bowed upon her arrival.
It was weird. Everyone treated me like s**t, except she was faking it.
Was the food poisoned?
“Lady, I’m here to give you your evening meal.” She informed me courteously.
“Evening meal?” I wanted to be sure as I curled my lips.
“Yes, Master Kevin asked me to bring it for you.” she said.
Then my eyes glimmered in hope. It was him. He was always beside me, helping and protecting me.
It seemed he was the only one I could trust.
“Thank you.” a small smile rested on my lips as I received the food tray from her, she bowed and left.
I couldn’t wait to ravish everything on the tray to my satisfaction, I salivated as I returned to my room.
Golden’s POV
“Why did you help her? Why did you stop her and why on earth did you give her my expensive pain killer?” I yelled at his face, adding it with a hot slap.
He fell on his knees, he was unable to speak or save himself.
“Are you deaf?! If you dare me, I will strip you of your status and torture you!” I spat at his face in anger.
“Your Majesty, that woman is innocent.” he said with his lips trembling.
“And what does that have to do with you? Are you married to her or what?” I questioned him in contempt.
“I’m sorry, your majesty. But I’m doing this for you, she might be paralyzed or turn cripple; then getting a child will be inevitable."He tried to convince me of his reasons, and I snorted, hitting my pumped fist hard on the table.
“I never asked you to make a decision for me!” I shouted at him.
“There is only one reason I can't pluck out your annoying eyes from its socket.” I warned him with a hoarse annoyed voice.
“There are so many women, you scum!” I reminded him in anger.
“Then why here? Why did you bring her here to mistreat her?” he asked me brazenly as he lifted his eyes, he stared into mine with no fear.
I was taken aback for a minute.
“What?” I gritted my teeth.
“Why not bring in thousands of women rather than taking a broken, weak woman?” he made a comeback, fearlessly.
“If you dare ask me such stupid question, I swear I’m going to kill you. I will rip your heart out and….” I was scolding him in anger when someone rushed into the room.
“Your Majesty…!” The person interrupted me curtly and didn’t knock, then swung the knife from my pocket and it landed in his chest.
He coughed out blood and fell flat on the floor. Of course, death was the next stage.
“That’s what will happen to you, if you dare me!” I warned him devilishly.
“Your Majesty.” another guard called my attention. He couldn’t step in after seeing the demise of his partner.
“Come in.” I waved and Kevin arranged himself, then stood aside.
“What is it?” I questioned him impatiently, he was breathing heavily.
“It’s the new lady.” he cried out and fell to his knees.
“What happened to her!?” Kevin and I asked in unison, he recoiled when I shot him an annoying glare.
“She collapsed after having her meal.” he informed us frantically.
“What?” Kevin attempted to take a step but stopped, he pumped his fist in anger and I scoffed walking out of the hall.
“You won't do anything?” his statement stopped me and I smirked.
“When she came to my domain, she was destined to die.” I reminded him in a cold tone and left the hall entirely,
I heard a flit step from behind, I assumed he followed me.
