Clara’s POV Tom and a few close servants of mine didn’t stop waving at me as I left the pack, Uncle Charles followed the escort to see me off. I scanned my father’s mansion desperately but I didn’t see him in sight, he was nowhere to be found. He couldn’t even say the last goodbye to his daughter. I sighed and relaxed on the chariot that was controlled by a stable boy. “Clara…” Uncle Charles began. We were in between the rough path in the forest that led to the Alpha King’s palace. We could hear the sound made by crickets, birds and wolves, smoke oozed out from every corner of the forest and its funnel was left unknown. “I know how you must be feeling, but I urge you to stay strong.” he encouraged me softly, stroking my hair. He was the only one I could call father though, since he had been doing the duties quite well. He was a compassionate man with little or no ambition. “Uncle…” I muttered sadly as tears started gathering in my eyelids. That was the weakness I was trying to explain. “Don’t worry, you will be fine.” he gave me a last pat on my shoulder. “I will drop here.” he informed the stable boy and he stopped the chariot after hitting the horse. “Take care, my lady.” he bowed shortly and I nodded in melancholy as the chariot started moving again. Of course, I looked back. I looked back at my home and the people that I might never see again. I laughed at my situation inwardly before turning to the front. After so many years, I started missing my mother and felt lonely again. The stable boy dropped me at the front giant gate of the Sharp Eagle Pack and left with the chariot. I thought the Alpha would be outside to welcome me but there was nothing like that. I took a step and automatically, the door wide open, I felt uneasy as I entered the palace. The entire ground was made of rare gold and gemstones, I couldn’t feed my eyes more with the breathtaking view. I almost gasped in shock at the pyramid mansion far away from the main grassland. The palace was as mysterious and huge as everyone described it. I felt uncomfortable stepping on gold, it was something that everyone craved to have and here it was, lying on the ground with no one trying to covet it. Immediately, a troupe of servants rushed out from a hall in front of me and as they walk; they covered the ground with a long red carpet until it got to me. “Wow.” I gasped inwardly. At least he had a surprise entourage for me. Just as I was about to step my foot on the carpet. “Don’t you dare!” a loud voice cried out to me and I shivered in shock, taking a step backward. It was definitely not the Alpha King. The man approached me before I saw the demon coming, with confident strides, he walked over to me with pride. I could see the flame of hell burning behind him. His sharp annoying eyes. His scattered blonde hair that had the crown lying on it. Yes, he was unquestionably handsome but his arrogance irked me. All his servants fell on their knees, except for that man and me. He pierced into my eyes, looking so intimidating and suddenly my knees became wobbly until I fell on the ground. “Greet!” the man urged me in disgust. “Greeting to you, Alpha King.” I said as my lips trembled, I had to lower my head to the ground. “Guards!” the Alpha king cried out and immediately I started hearing thunderous footsteps. It was as though thousands of people were running down from a mountain and when I turned back, it was a true assumption. I saw hundreds and thousands of guards standing adjacent to me, they bowed in his presence and he waved at them. I was nervous and afraid he wouldn’t kill me so fast; will he? I swallowed hard. “Your father has always been stupid but I thought he would change after this last chance.” he got closer to me, I held my breath. Raya was already shivering like a wolf that was thrown into an ice cage. She was afraid especially when faced with one of the strongest Alpha Kings. “I will give you a taste of your father’s medicine since you are his daughter.” he snarled as he began walking around me in circles. “Guards!” he called them again and they chanted their courteous response. “Drag her out to the arena and take turns, each of you must lash her with nothing less than thirty strokes of the cane! Very hard!” he instructed them strictly and my jaw dropped. “What?” that was the annoying and angry statement that escaped from my mouth. He stopped walking and turned to me. He reached to me and gave me a dirty slap that made blood sprout from my mouth. No one could stop him, not even that man. “What are you waiting for? Drag her out!” he shouted at them, looking furious. “That is death. We will definitely die.” Raya cried out bitterly. My cheek ached from his slap and my eyes flicked at the amount of guards standing behind me. There were more than a hundred, there were more than a thousand guards. Does he want to kill me? I thought he only wanted an heir. Two strong guards reached out to me, I couldn’t even struggle with them because I knew it would be a waste. They dragged me out to the so-called arena and I shot a last look at the demon, he was having a sneer smirk on his lips. Who said he was a wolf? An ordinary beast wasn’t the best title. He was a cursed, ruthless, cruel and arrogant demon. I don’t think I can make an heir with him. I sighed heavily before giving up willing to fate - such an unpredictable fate. Golden’s POV “Your Majesty, don’t you think the punishment is too much for her?” Kevin began. “Have you forgotten the details of the lady of Moonlight Pack?” he questioned me, I didn’t know when it had gotten to the time where he questioned my judgment. “And what does that have to do with me?” I raised an annoying brow at him. “She is your wife, your majesty,” he said. “And did I acknowledge her as one or you did?” I cussed under my breath. “What if she dies?” he didn’t stop, he kept on asking me stupid questions. “We burn or bury her!” I informed him avidly and he shook his head. “Whatever.” he rolled his eyes and walked to the table, he started turning wine into a long cup made of gold. “So, any report from the guards?” I asked him slyly. I wasn’t interested, I only wanted to know if I should start preparing for the funeral. “Don’t ask me that.” he grew cold so fast, I smirked. Immediately, one of the guards rushed into the hall after a short knock. He looked impatient and was breathing heavily, he must have been running all these while. I sat on the long armchair that had a wedge on it, which gave me reason to relax comfortably, staring at the fool before me. He fell on his knees. “What is it?” Kevin asked in my stead. “Your Majesty, I got a report from the guards you gave an assignment to.” He said with his face still on the ground. This was the kind of fear I loved building. “What report is that?” I spoke in annoyance. The shivers didn’t end in his reaction, it escaped from his trembling mouth. “It’s the new lady, she fainted beyond recovery.” he spilled bluntly and Kevin’s mouth hung in the air. I behaved as though I didn’t hear anything and focused on the book I was reading. “Your Majesty…” Kevin’s voice resonated in the room. I ignored him. “Take me to her.” Kevin said and attempted to leave the hall with the guard. “Don’t.” I began and he stopped. “Don’t you dare step an inch out of this room!” I yelled at him and he faced me. “Your Majesty… there will be a problem if she dies….” He reminded me with provocation lingering in his voice. “You know I love problems the most.” I winked at him, making sure to piss him off, which worked. He waved at the guard to leave and he left. I sighed heavily. “Don’t you really care about that woman?” He asked me after a brief silence and I dropped the book on the table. “As what? We have other pending issues to look into rather than a weak person.” I gritted my teeth in anger before leaving into my inner chamber. Clara’s POV I couldn’t move an inch, turn or shake my body. I felt aches all over and for a minute, I cursed myself and wished I died. My dress was covered with blood including the hard wooden bed I was laying on. Dignity? Prestige? I scoffed. There was nothing like that here. He was brutal and didn’t care about anyone. I groaned in pain while scanning the empty room. There was no one coming to my aid and I could already see myself in the afterlife, the pain was unbearable. Since I was born, I have never been flogged this much. The guards obeyed him like puppets, they flogged me with no mercy taking turns. No matter how I wailed and cried for help, they showed coldness in their actions. My father was cruel and wicked to me but he had never lashed me this much, I lost count when they were flogging because it was too much. Suddenly, the door opened. I thought my hope had come, that I would finally be treated to soothe my pain when someone poured a bucket of cold water on me. “No! Ouch!” I cried out bitterly while gritting my teeth. She was wearing a maid uniform, I wondered who gave her such guts. I couldn’t rise from my position, it was my eyes that did the whole talking. “What are you lying here for?” she yelled at my face. “Don’t you know who I am?” I asked her with a raised brow, she smirked whilst nodding her head. “And so? The king said your punishment is not over yet.” She dragged me from the bed. “Ouch.” I jumped up immediately because I couldn’t withstand the ache and pain that spread through my buttocks. She laughed. “You need to wash the laundry!” she informed me. “But, I’m the Alpha’s wife.” I said with a pitiful voice, she scoffed. “Do you want me to push you?” she asked scornfully and I shook my head taking the materials from her. I haven't applied any ointment in my bruises, I was still in pain - yet he gave me another punishment. “Dad… Uncle Charles… are you seeing this? Tom…” I cried inwardly feeling annoyed with no strength or courage to fight. I got to the laundry yard where I found several servants facing their own activities with a big frown on their faces. They were washing, spreading and rinsing. This was what I did in my step father’s house, I never knew it would repeat itself in my husband’s house. He would have told them I was coming as his slave, so I could prepare rather than take me by surprise. Some group of servants pushed me aside and I fell, hitting my buttocks in the hard rock. I screamed in pain having no shame. They burst into hard laughter. “Why do you do that?” Too bad I didn’t have a strong bold voice to slap them and put them in their places. They exchanged weird stares. “Do you think you belong here?” one of the servants asked me in disgust, she pushed me backward with her finger and of course, I almost fell. A strong stout arms wrapped my waist and I landed in his chest, staring at him in astonishment. It was that man from earlier. “Master Kevin.” they all bowed and went on their knees. I was left in a daze for a few minutes. “Are you alright?” he questioned me softly, he was the only calm person I have met since I got here. I swallowed hard before batting my lashes.
