I squint my eyes before I dart my eyes towards the window, I noticed the sun was already peeking through the window. I came to realize that the ship might have taken off. I hurriedly stood up and got dressed, I felt terrified, knowing full well, I have just wasted a full day without achieving my goals. so I hurriedly changed to a Red gown and I wore brown sandals. I gently combed my hair and let it flow into waves, then I turn to Gideon, I noticed he was in a trance, he was looking at me without breaking eye contact. my face flushed when I noticed his gaze. "I'm ready, now can we leave?" I said to him, he nodded gently and pretended to adjust his trouser, knowing full well that I have caught him looking at me. He adjusted his throat before walking out of the room without sparing me a glance. I followed him, then he started walking towards the stable to prepare the horses. I waited for him outside, while he prepared for the journey. but before Gideon arrives, I noticed the crone of the coven came. she packed her long silver curls into a ponytail as she walked up to me, and she plastered a smile on her face. it made her look even more beautiful and admirable, " before you leave, I'll like to give you this..." she said, then she removed a bracelet, it was a golden bracelet, it was beautiful, it was embroidered with Rubies around its edges. "thank you..but..." "no but...this would help you when you are in danger," she said. my gaze softened, I wondered why she was volunteering to help, despite the fact I had trespassed on her lands. then Gideon walked towards us before she turned towards the crone. " Jennifer.. I'll like to know why you decide to help this b***h" he snarled. " don't call her that Gideon, Because the moment I set my eyes on her yesterday, I saw a woman who was desperate for help, and help we shall offer ". when I heard her words, I found myself tearing up. I don't have the right to hug her, but I couldn't help it, so I immediately enveloped her in a tight hug, assuring her that I'll come back for her. after breaking from the hug she turn to look at me before she said. "you may go now because your mother needs you" she smiled. I nodded with a smile etched on my face, she was more like a senior sister I never had, someone who guide me and tell me that everything would be alright, someone who will encourage me and tell me that I can achieve my goals. I sank in a deep breath before I hopped on the horse, we rode quietly with Gideon. I was sited behind him, while he controls the horse, we were so close that I could perceive his murky and manly scent. we continued the journey, without anyone breaking the silence, no one was ready to say a word. so I decided to say, " how are you related to the crone?" I asked. " she's my aunt ". I just nodded, " then...why does she have silver hair and you don't?". "because is none of your business, now can you keep quiet already " he yelled, evidently frustrated. I sank in a deep breath, but I was anxious to know more about the coven, I want to come back here and show her my gratitude. "Why are you mean or indifferent towards me?" I found myself asking. there was silence, he didn't say a word, but I was curious, I wondered what he was thinking. I decided to keep quiet, so that's how the journey continued. after hours of Riding the horse, I felt so sore down there, I had never ridden a horse for this long. but I couldn't say I was tired, because I was scared he might yell at me. just looking at his eyes, I know he's good at magic, someone who has mastered the real art of magic and I won't want to get on his bad side, I need to reach the vampire kingdom in one piece. minutes turn to hours, but he was not showing signs of stopping so I'll frequently adjust feeling so sore, I felt cramps, then I let out a frustrated sigh. but my ego won't let me ask him to stop, because my mother needs me more than ever now, but I decided to ask. " Are we not boarding a ship?" "No we are riding a horse, because the ship is long gone, or did you prefer to wait till the next four days to see another ship?" he asked still maintaining his cold facade. I immediately shook my head, but that's when I remembered that I still don't know the days that this journey might take us. " how many days would this journey take us? " "it'll take roughly three days". " three what?" I exclaimed. "that's... that's too long" I voiced out sounding defeated, especially when I remembered my brothers and the way Keri had kissed me goodbye I felt the raw urge to cry. we continued the journey, as many thoughts enveloped me, then an extra hour passed by, then he tells me. " let's rest and eat". "yes", I said exhausted. because I was so tired and I needed to rest, given the fact I was not used to this kind of long journey. "would you want us to go hunting?" he asked. I smiled and immediately nodded. he tilted his head to the right, he then removed an elven bread, I was stunned to see one, it was my first time witnessing one. "would you like to eat?" he asked. "yes..." I said hurriedly, almost like if I hesitated another second, he might change his mind. he let out a sigh before he handed the bread, I took it from him and shoved a huge piece in my mouth, I had to suppress a moan, it was very delicious, it tasted like honey and strawberry with a mixture of over 20 other flavors that I'm still yet to know their names. he stretched before he looked at me, then he said. "we should go to bed, we can go hunting tomorrow," he said. I smiled and nodded, then I searched for a suitable spot to sleep. when I was about to completely doze off, I heard his husky voice. "I'm not indifferent towards you, is just I'm scared of falling again".
