CHAPTER TWELVE

(ANNA)

After two days of full rest without leaving my bed except for when I go to the restroom or have my bathe, my body feel stiff, i stretch to ease the kink in my muscle.

“Are you ready to leave your room sister- in- law.” I give Maddox an evil glare at the nickname he has been using since yesterday.

Even though I feel attracted to his brother and he treat me well I still can’t get the curse out of my mind. “Yes am ready to leave this room, I think i’ve seen enough of it.”

Maddox show me around the estate, I was surprise at how wide it is, it’s triple the size of my university, there were various houses and business operations you don’t have to leave the estate if you don’t want to, there everything you need here from grocery to clothing stores bars, market, hospitals, there’s even a media house, I was astounded.

“This place is beautiful.” I tell Maddox.

“Thanks, our people have been living here for twelve years when my brother acquire the land.”

“Your brother owns this land? He must be affluent to be able to purchase this, how wealthy is your brother?

“Comfortable enough to take care of his future family and any clan member who need assistance, enough of the boring conversation lets hit the bar.”

Checking my wrist watch, “Its 7:20, no bar will be open yet.

“The bars here open by 5:00am, don’t worry, by now they are all open.

“What! Who drink that early?” With a laugh Maddox replied “People who want to, I sometimes go there by 4:30 when I had a rough night.

“Wow, what of your brother did he go there that early too.”

“No, he is the clan leader he has to set a good example for everyone, if he feels like drinking that early he does it indoor.

“Shouldn’t the same thing apply to you since you are the clan leader brother.”

“No it didn’t, I pretty much do whatever I feel like doing.”

As we enter the bar, every eyes were on us and there where whispers, “News travel fast here or did you tell anyone about me.”

“You can hear what they are saying? I think we need to test what other abilities you might have, once we leave the bar we will get to that.”

“Do you think as the leader mate its polite to come to a bar this early.”

“So you’ve accept my brother.”

“I’ve not, but that’s what everyone here is referring me as.”

“Don’t worry since it’s not official yet and going to the bar at this time is not wrong.”

“You guys are a bunch of alcoholic.” I said in my head

“Did you just project your thought to me.”

“What are you talking about.”

“I can hear you in my head, you just said we are a bunch of alcoholic right?

“Yeah, but can you lower your voice I don’t want your people to think am insulting them. But how did I do that I was just thinking to myself.”

“We will figure everything out soon but for now let’s drink.” We move closer to the bartender who was mixing a blue liquid. Out of curiosity I ask Maddox what it is.

“That’s ghost breath, it’s a drink invented by Lucas, the bartender.” he said to me.

“Why does it look like goo.”

“It the mixture of different drink, but it tastes good you can give it a try, if I remember correctly, you can handle any drink right?”

“Yeah, but that looks suspicious.”

“Don’t worry we won’t d**g you.”

“Hey Lucas, how’s it going, looks like you are having a busy day.”

“Yes, there are a lot of customers coming in this morning, it’s been a while since you’ve been here, are you going to another bar.” he asked with a raised eyebrow.

“No way will I do that to my dear friend, i’ve just been preoccupied this few days.

“So you are a regular.” I asked with a scuff, He just smiles back at me.

“Won’t you introduce me to your new friend Maddox.”

“Sorry, where are my manners, Lucas meet Anna a friend of mine, Anna this is Lucas my childhood friend.”

“Its nice meeting you Lucas.”

“The pleasure is all mine Ms. Anna.”

“Please call me Anna.”

“Alright.”

“What is that blue goo thing I saw you mixing.”

“It’s ghost breath.”

“Why did you name it that.”

“It has a cool taste and leave your breath cold, but it’s a strong liquor, I come up with it myself since most member of the clan burns alcohol quickly from their system but this, make them a little drunk for a long time.”

“I don’t know that you people don’t get drunk easily.”

“We have a strong metabolism, so does all other shifters. How about you give it a try, just a little sip so you don’t get drunk.”

“Alright, am all for a new experience.” After taking the first sip I can immediately feel the effect of the drink, on the second sip I feel myself getting drunk, I can’t help but laugh hysterically.

“I think she’s drunk.” The bartender said.

“No way I can hantle mia dwink.” I slur

“She is definitely drunk, come on let’s go home.” Maddox said while helping me to stand straight till we get out of the bar.

“I can worlk be me sef.”

“I know you can, I didn’t know the drink will hit you this hard, sorry about that, Scott is going to m**m me if he sees you like this.”

“Scott? That defulishly hanshome dude wit bu eye? don wery I can dandle him.”

“Devilishly handsome hmm? I hope you remember you said that when you sober up.”

“Scorthh can yu yer me, yu arr defulisly hanshome, you luk etabu for buakfast.” I said with a giggle.

“Are you drunk?” he replied.

“Hahahah, he hears.”

“Who did?”

“Scorth.”

“You can communicate telepathic with him even from this distance? Incredible, but let’s hope he’s not in a meeting when you contacted him because I don’t think he will be able to focus.” Maddox said as he drags me inside the house.

“So you are just coming in.” I look up to find Scott with both his hand cross in front of his chest.

“Awduyu geh yere.”

“I teleport home when someone talks to me drunkenly, seriously, you are just getting better and you still haven’t gotten your memory back do you think taking alcohol is a good idea.”

“Did nuht take arcolor, jus tu sip of blu goo.”

“Ghost breath? Really Maddox, I ask you to look after her and you let her take ghost breath, even us get drunk from it.

“I know, but it’s just a little sip I didn’t know she will get this drunk.”

“Imam nuht donk.”

“Come here.” Scott said taking my hand and leading me to my bedroom to sleep off the alcohol.

Waking up I was having a headache, I feel so awful, I wonder what woke me up until I hear the whispers, I face the direction the noise was coming from, “Can’t you people keep it down.”

“I heard you got yourself drunk.” Sasha said, “how are you feeling?”

“I have a headache and am thirsty.”

“Take, drink this.” I collect the glass of water and aspirin from Scott. “Thanks.”

“What are you guys whispering about before I woke up?”

“We are discussing about what to do concerning the creature, we are trying to give Scott our opinion so he can communicate it to the council meeting tomorrow.”

“Ok, I think we should use Excalibur since Diana said its powerful, can’t it destroy the creature?”

“We don’t know, but it should be able to, but the issue is how to wield it, can you handle it? Also you have to be close to the creature for you to be able to use Excalibur on him.” Scott said.

“You are right; I think I will need a lot of training to be able to face the creature.”

“You would, and we will all be there, you won’t be doing it alone it is going to be a team effort.”

“You still haven’t gotten your memory back?” Cassandra asked.

“Yes.”

“If you get it back you will tell us right?” Sasha asked with a worried look.

“Of course I would.”

“Maybe you should try meditation, that’s what I do when I want to sort out my emotion.” Sia said.

“I will give it a try.”

“Come on let’s start your training I told you that we are going to try and see if you have any other abilities.” Maddox said.

We all move to the back of Scott house which have a wide field. “Your backyard is huge why did you leave such space.” Sasha asked.

“For shifting.” Maddox replied.

“Why don’t you start by meditating first,” Sia face me.

“Alright,” I sat on the grass with my leg cross and palm on my lap.

“Try to remember what happen when you enter the veil. Focus and tune off any sound apart from my voice.” Cass whispered.

I do as she instructed and I fell into oblivion, when I open my eyes I remember everything that happen.

“Can you remember now?” They all asked in unison.

“Yes, I can.”

“Can you tell us.” Cassandra ask while bending to help me up.

“When I enter the veil there were nothing, just desert so I kept walking for some hours then I saw a portal but before I could enter the portal I was attack by skin walker that comes out of the ground, I have to fight them off then I jump into the portal which take me to what looks like a forest, there was a waterfall and stream, everything looks green, I saw a lady by the stream who said she will let me continue my quests if I can answer her question which I did.”

“I also sing, that was the easiest part of the quest, I really can’t explain it step by step.”

“Just explain it anyhow” Maddox said.

“I wish there was a way I can just show you so you can fully understand, it’s like going from one world to another in there, the veil doesn’t take you to one place, it’s like…..

“Are you doing that?” Sia asked Cassandra.

“Am a seer, not a telepath I can’t project what I see into people’s mind, I think it’s Anna’s doing.”

“What are you talking about, what am I projecting.”

“I think it’s what you go through in the veil, but it’s just flashes, maybe you should focus on it then try to project it into our mind, it’s going to be like pushing the image into our mind, that way we will be able to see what you are seeing.” Scott explained.

“Ok, let me try, everyone brace yourself.”

After projecting everything to them Sasha was the first to break the silence, “Was that a real dragon? I can’t believe the veil take you to a dragon lair to get the sword, you barely make it.”

“And it’s a real dragon not a dragon shifter, I thought real dragon doesn’t exist anymore.” Cassandra turn towards the direction of Maddox and Scott.

“They don’t, which leads to the question what exactly is the veil? and you have to go through a lake of fire, something like that shouldn’t exist.”

“At least that unlock her elemental ability.” Maddox said.

“I thought the quests is to fight few people then you reach your destination where you will be bestowed your abilities,” Sia input. “I don’t know you have to pass through different phase of challenges to get your abilities and it’s like you just develop the abilities or something because there was no one there to give it to you, just like the lake of fire it was the fact that the fire was rumbling and coming your way that make you develop the ability to bend fire and earth.”

“What if she wasn’t strong enough she would have been toasted.” Sasha alarmed, this quests is crazy no wonder there are a lot of cripple guardians.”

“What of the crystal you found in the cave, where did you put it? It’s not on you when you get out of the veil.” Maddox asked.

“When I need it I can call for it but till then it will remain in the cave.”

“How will you call for it.” Cass asked confused.

“I don’t know yet but I know when the time comes for me to use it I will know.”

“What of the wolf you fought in the forest? What does that mean.” Scott asked.

“I don’t know; I think I just have to fight it to get to the next quest.”

“Wow, this is a lot, thank God you make it out alive and the way you fight, damn it was awesome, but it would have been of some help if you have been able to take the sword before facing some of the quests, it would have been easy for you since you lost the one you take with you on the second quest.” Sasha said.

“I think it’s a good thing the last quest was the Excalibur, what if after she battle the dragon to take the sword the portal throws her to another quest she would have been passed out there instead of here at her world.” Sia being a deep thinker said.

“It’s true, but it’s still intense, what go through your mind when you saw the dragon coil around the stone holding the sword?” Cassandra requested.

“I guess I have to get the sword, that’s what go through my mind then, I don’t know the crazy dragon was going to be intent on roasting me alive or that it would almost kill me when I was about to enter the portal.”

“Its tail hitting your head is what make you lose your memory, at least now we know it’s not the compound doing.” Maddox said.
