(SCOTT)
“Why did she make such drastic decision all of a sudden.”
“I have no idea but I also think it’s a good decision, anything that will give her extra protection is good, don’t you think?”
I can’t help but be worried even though what my brother said did make sense, anything that will give my mate extra protection is fine with me but what if something bad happen to her? I’ve seen a lot of guardians who are cripple due to this quest, even if some have a unique ability the price sometimes is just too high.
“What if something bad happen to her? And why can’t someone go into the veil with her.”
“Brother you know that’s not allowed, and what are the chances of something going wrong, she’s a strong woman and she can handle herself, there’s nothing to be worried about we just have to be there for her when the quest is over.”
“You know the reason why Paul is blind is due to the quest right?”
“Paul? you mean your formal college mate; do you still keep in touch?”
“Yes, we still communicate with each other, he’s in Tennessee, during the quest he lost his sight though some of his other sense organ are heighten, like his sense of smell and hearing but at what price, losing his eye sight?”
“You know the quest doesn’t always come with a price, it’s just that some people get badly injured during the quest.”
“And why is it that none of them ever explain what goes on during the quest.”
“They said it’s not easy to explain, it’s a little complicated to put in words.”
“And you believe that? What if once you enter the veil you are ask to give something in return for the ability about to be bestow to you.”
“I don’t think that’s how it works, what about the people who come out unharmed.”
“What if what they lose isn’t physical?”
“What do you mean by that?”
“What if what they lose is internal, they could be battling with some kind of disease or something.”
“I think your imagination is running wild brother,” Maddox replied “let’s just trust your mate and be there for her when her quest is done.” I can’t believe that am the voice of reasoning today, I guess having a mate doesn’t make you think straight.”
“Shut up and let’s go.” Scott reply furiously.
We make our way to the guardians compound since that’s where we all decide to meet up, I guess Anna didn’t want anyone to change her mind, because am sure there’s no way she will be taking the quest if I get the chance to meet her at her place before she go to the compound for the quest.”
The compound is a wide estate that comprise of guardian and warrior families, though not everyone in the estate are guardians since not everyone can be a guardian some are given some other role. The estate is almost as big as mine at 15 acres of land that comprises of schools, hotels, restaurants, bars and some other amenities.
I’ve only been here a couple of time but the place has change a lot since my last visit, there are houses and business organizations where there once lands with nothing to occupy them.
“Welcome, Mr. Scott and Mr. Maddox, am Veronica I’ve been instructed to bring you to the compound ground center where the quest will take place.”
“What of Anna, don’t we get to see her before the quest start?” Maddox asked.
“Am sorry but no, she is about to join the rest of the candidates on the compound ground center.”
Facing Maddox, I ask, “Are we that late? I thought you said the quest start by 9:00am.”
“That’s what I was told” Maddox replied. “Veronica, I thought the quest start by 9:00am, why is she going to the compound ground center now, it’s just 8:30.”
“The candidates decided to start earlier than the normal schedule time.”
“This is bull s**t” Scott replied.
“Have any friend of Anna arrived yet.” Maddox ask her.
“Yes, they are at the compound ground center.”
“Alright, take us to them.”
“Hello ladies how are you doing?” Scott asked.
“Not good” Sia replied, “I can’t believe she didn’t wait a few more days before making such huge decision, I would have spar with her for a few more days to get her prepare, this is just too dangerous.”
“I can’t even see anything, Cass said, I’ve been trying to find a possibility of what’s going to happen and so far I’ve got nothing. I still can’t believe they don’t allow us to see her before the quest start.”
“I think it’s her decision, she didn’t want anyone to change her mind,” Sasha replied.
“Even with that this decision is quick.” Sia said.
“I agree with you, I told her that but she said she want to go through with it.”
“I just hope she’s okay, that’s all that matters.” Scott said.
“She is, she’s a strong woman, or have you forgotten who we are talking about? Its Anna the lady that jump into a pit without a second thought or knowing where it’s going to lead.” Maddox uttered.
There was an applause and cheers, we all face the candidates the cheers were directed to, there she was walking in with the other candidates, my heart ache, she looks so confident and beautiful, her face didn’t betray any emotion of what might be going on in her mind.
When they reach the center of the ring where the first quest was to be taken I can’t help but hold my breath, some of the candidates have been preparing for this their whole life but she was just introduce to this part of the world, I wonder how she will handle herself, I guess I just have to wait and cheer her on like everybody else and hope for a better result.

The outcome of the first quest was shocking, I have no idea Anna can fight in such a vigorous manner, she was brutal, she beat all her opponents in a matter of minutes, it was like she has been preparing for this all along, I was so shocked.
“Did you know she can do that?” I asked maddox.
“I have no idea, am just as shock as you brother, I guess she’s a true warrior, a true warrior doesn’t have to train for years to know how to combat their opponents its an inherent ability.
“I agree with you, that was amazing,” Sia smiled.
I’m excited with the outcome of the quest and can’t wait to see what else she is going to surprise me with. With this outcome am sure she can face whatever comes next.
