I watch as Triton lifts himself onto his knees. He lifts his legs to stand on his feet, he buckles a bit and finally stands on two feet while his arms are floating in the air trying to keep his balance.
I take my waterproof bag from my back and open it up. Pulling out a pink and white floral dress and slipping it on over my head.
I manage to stand up and balance on my two feet. I look over at Triton and he's already got the hang of it.
"Triton! How do I do this?" I ask looking down at my pale legs.
"Take your right foot and place it forward, put your weight on it and bring your left foot forward." He instructs me.
I glance down at my feet and do as I'm told. I move my right foot forward and feel my toes getting lots in the sand. Resting my weight down and I lift my left foot. I feel my right ankle weaken and I loose balance, my arms moving in the air trying to regain my balance but it doesn't work.
I feel myself heading to the ground. Before I fall, I feel Triton's hard chest saving me. His arms wrapped around me warm and safe.
I glance into his eyes and smile at him. Butterflies dancing in my stomach. Being in his arms is the best feeling.
"Don't worry babe. You're safe with me." The words leave his mouth.
I stand on my new feet and reach up towards his lips. My heart skips as we get closer.
I feel his breath on my skin. Every centimetre gets more intense. Our lips touch and we kiss.
After a few more tries and a few more falls. Triton's patience finally pays off. I am now a master at walking.
"Thanks Triton." I say giving him a huge hug.
In my far view I see a blue piece of material lying in the dry sand. I walk over to it and pick it up. It looks like pants.
"Triton? Think these will fit?" I say looking at the demin pants.
"I don't exactly have a choice. The chauffer will be here soon and I can't be naked." He grabs the jeans and puts it on. It's a bit over sized but it will have to work.
"What's a chauffer?" I ask confused.
"It's a car driver. Your father has requested us a chauffer for our time being here. We can't drive because you need a license to drive. He will be taking us to the house we'll be staying in." Triton informs me.
I really have no clue about anything on land. I should've had so many questions. Thank the gods' I have Triton here with me.
Moments later we see a black car parked far from the shore. A man in a black suit gets out of the car and stands next to the car.
"That must be him." Says Triton walking over to him.
I follow Triton towards the car.
Triton greets him and he opens up the door for us. Triton hops in leaving me to go next.
I make eye contact with the human and shivers go down my spine. I've never met a human before.
"Princess Coralie." He says.
"Good evening...Aah, sorry I didn't get your name." I say.
"Apologies your highness. My name is James." He says.
"Nice to meet you James." I say getting into the black car.
I hear the front door slamming shut and we start moving. I keep looking outside the dark windows hoping for the ocean not to disappear, but sadly it does.
I grab onto Triton's hand. A heavy feeling of fear sits on my shoulders. My eyes are wide open and I hear all kinds of thoughts when all I want is quiet time for me to process all of this. It's all happening way too quickly. I miss home already.
"Don't worry Coralie, you don't have to be afraid. I'm here for you." Triton comforts me. Clearly listening in on my thoughts.
"Thanks." I say nervously.
He places his arm around me and I scoot over closer to him. His body heat warms me up from the cold leather seats.
Finally we reach a big gate with an intercom.
"Hello. Who would like to enter?" says the intercom.
"James. Here to transport Princess Coralie and King Neptune's head guard, Triton." James speaks back to the intercom.
The big black gate opens wide ahead of us and the car moves forward. Once the car passes the gates, I turn my head and look behind us, seeing the gates closing again.
Along the driveway, we pass a big garden with green grass and tree's. The car enters a circle with a fountain in the middle and on the other side is a big building.
Is this where my father stayed? It's a white mansion. The most beautiful thing I've ever seen.
The car stops in front of a big staircase leading up to double doors. James opens up the car door for us.
Triton and I climb out of the car and I thank James for driving us. I walk up the stairs barefoot and the cold enters my entire body from under.
My nerves are shot. I have no idea what to expect. This is all too much for one day.
As we get closer to the double doors it opens, behind it, is a beautiful lady with long brown hair, tied up in a ponytail with a black dress and a white apron over it.
"Good Evening. I am Vivian Knight. I am your housekeeper. If there is anything you need please feel free to call on me." She says.
A housekeeper? I thought me coming to land wouldn't include more housekeepers, guards and servants. I wish my father discussed this with me first.
"Evening Vivian. Thank you so much I really appreciate it, but we won't be needing anything for now. I'd just like some time alone. If you could just show me to my room that would be all. " I say.
"Sure, your highness." She says.
I'm so exhausted I don't even have the energy to tell Vivian that it's not necessary to be so formal.
We enter the house. Everything has white tiles. From the staircase to the floors. On either sides of the immense room are big staircases leading up to the bedrooms.
"Princess Coralie, I'll show you to your room." Says Vivian.
I follow her up the left stairs while Triton explores the rest of the house. Once Vivian and I finally reach the end of the stairs I find myself in a huge passage. Door after door, on the left and right sides of me. I reach the end of the hall and Vivian points to the door.
"This will be your room. The master bedroom." She says.
"Thank you Vivian. That will be all for now." I say.
"Pleasure your highness." She says bowing and walks away.
"Vivian!" I call.
She turns around and our eyes meet.
"You can call me Coralie." I say smiling. That will probably be the only smile I can create for the rest of the evening.
Vivian nods her head and carries on with walking through the long passage.
I reach for the handle of the door and open it up. The last bit of sunlight shines through the glass doors leading to the balcony. A king sized bed standing in the middle of the room. Across from it is a dressing table made of marble with a note on it. I pick the tiny note up.
My Daughter
I know this might be a lot for you to handle and I understand that.
Please keep your head up and be the brave girl that I know and raised.
There is lot's your father and I haven't told you and we have good reasoning behind that.
Enjoy your stay on land. It will be an amazing experience. Your father doesn't know I've sent this letter.
I love you
Mom.
I put the note back onto the dressing table and I feel my eyes start to get heavy. I walk over to the big bed and lay myself down and slowly feel myself drifting off.
