Chapter1
VIOLIN'S POV
“Tsk!”
I snapped at the gulp of Tequila and Vodka mix in my hands as I drank the whole glass cup dry.
I now find solace in liquor and on the adventure of exploring every bar and club in the city.
This wasn't a day's decision but a coping mechanism I have built over time.
The thoughts of my dead mother eroded my mind. I miss her.
I miss her so much and it drains me everyday that she is not here with me.
“You just have to learn to forget about her,” Those were the exact words of my father. A man who hardly had my time, busy with his duties as the Mayor of the city of Kansas.
“What's your poison?” The voice of the bartender came aloud at me.
There was something different about this club. I don't even know its name. I just found myself here in my patterned skirt and floral shirt as I stroke the bar stand gently with my leather shoes.
“Just keep bringing in the shots,” I said to the bartender.
This strange cologne rented the air all of a sudden. I was already feeling tipsy but the scent was strong and I was forced to look around.
“It would be a shame if a beauty like you falls flat on the floor,” a strange voice said from behind.
I moved my head slightly to see who it was. A tall, light handsome man appeared, his hair curled all the way, that it falls below his forehead.
“Can I help you?” I replied rudely.
He kept looking into my eyes like he was trying to read my mind or reach into my soul with them.
“I can take care of myself, young man, so move,” I said. I wouldn't have the courage to mutter such words to a stranger but this night I definitely did, with me dancing to the tune of alcohol.
He moved closer and I suddenly felt this wave hit me. “Who is this young man?”
“And what does he want with me?” I pondered.
He was a man of few words and I anticipated his next sentence. “I'm sorry. I find it difficult to take my gaze off your gorgeous self,” he whispered into my ears.
I stood up, hoping to push him away but I staggered and fell in his arms. Our eyes met and I became drawn to him.
Exceptionally drawn to him, that very instant.
“Why does your eyes look so different?” I said to him as I felt his hands move through my waist.
“B… beautiful,” I stuttered as I tried to get my stance before him.
The mood became tense and my emotions became heightened.
I heard him mutter some words but I didn't hear them clearly. Not only had my visions became blurry but even my hearing was no longer a hundred.
“Just kiss him,” a voice in my heard whispered and I obeyed.
I tried to kiss him but everything went dark all of a sudden.
******
“Was it a voice in my head?”
“Or was it a thread of thoughts in my mind?”
Maybe I was desperate for it or I was just swayed by the beauty of a strange man as I engage in the pleasures of night clubbing.
The curtains swung around revealing the rays of sunlight as they hit my eyes.
I snuggled in the grey bedsheets and turned around only to see myself alone on a rumpled bedspread.
“Damn!” I screamed out.
“How did I get here?” I said.
A sudden memory flashed through my mind; the mysterious dude was shirtless and I saw the green color of his eyes as they browsed through my body that very minute.
“What a p*****t!” I thought in my head.
He smirked, “You fascinate me,” he spoke softly, smacking his lips.
It was at that moment, I took notice of my body.
“Why does it feel like I am n……?”
I lifted the bedspread and “Ahhh!” I shouted all of a sudden.
I couldn't help it. I covered myself up immediately and reached out for my clothes which was hanging just at the edge of the bed.
“How did I even end up here?”
“How could I have been so loose to allow a strange man explore my body as he pleases?”
My face was covered in shame and disgust in myself as I stared into the air.
I couldn't find him anywhere in the room but his cologne was all over my body and around the room.
I felt used. “He slept with me and left me all alone here!” I hurriedly wore my clothes and walked out of the room quietly.
“I can't afford to be seen by people being the mayor's daughter!”
I don't even know his name. But whatever it was, I couldn't help but think about him.
“Where are you coming from?” The voice of the Almighty Bernard James came aloud.
“Uhmmm, Dad. You are back this early? I didn't know….” I stammered.
“I have been back since last night, cupcake,” he replied with a funny expression on his face.
“So are you going to tell me where you went to without a bodyguard?”
“And where is Linc? I told him to follow you wherever you go.”
“I relieved him of his duties last night, Dad. I just wanted to be alone. I'm sorry,” I pleaded with a cute smile.
“Violin, you know you can't keep doing that. Do not go anywhere without a guard by your side,” he instructed and I nodded in response.
And there this woman suddenly came out from behind him.
“Hello Violin…”
“Hmmm…you have a pretty daughter,” the woman commented, holding my father hands.
“Who is she?” I asked in a haste. Why would he bring another woman to our house? Why?
“Violin, meet Fiona, my friend.”
“Your friend? And let me guess you guys are having c****s- “ a vocabulary I use whenever I am disgusted.
“Violin, to your room!” He said in a loud tone.
I didn't even bother to utter a word in protest. As I turned to climb the stairs in my room, I felt a sharp pain in my neck, “Ouch!”
I gasped.
“Are those claw marks?”
