Evie was quite shaken after the outburst she just had with her husband. It was not the first time they were having a misunderstanding but this was the very first time she talked back at him. She didn't just talk back, she screamed at him, unleashing the anger and frustration she has been keeping for the past two years of their marriage. It was almost like a dream come true for her, she has played this event in her mind so many times, dreading the outcome, hoping she has the courage to finally face her worst nightmare. But there he was staring at her as though she didn't almost try to take off his head with her scream, he was calmer than usual, looking straight into her face. They both stood there facing each other, Evie panting and breathing heavily and Caspian watching and observing her. They stood there for what seemed like minutes then Caspian finally breaks the tense air. "I didn't know you could scream" he said casually, turning to go back into the house. She was lost for a few seconds, disappointed at his reaction, this wasn't the man she knew. He should be angry and very pissed after the stunt she just pulled but he wasn't, and this made her very worried. She walked slowly behind him silently praying for him to smash something or at least say something harsh to express his anger, but there was no such reaction from him. He walked straight towards the elegant marble dining set, took off his wristwatch and dropped it carefully on the expensive furniture. With very clean manicured fingers he started to unbutton his sleeves, revealing a white clean singlet underneath his shirt. He was quite the catch, tall, rich and handsome, and also from a respectable high class family. He had connections with people from different parts of Atlanta and beyond. He certainly is the man of any woman's dream. But she on the other hand was quite the opposite, low class petite girl from a small town just on the outskirts of Georgia, Evie was quite pretty even though her family didn't own much. Her father works at one of the sugar factories owned by Don Arthur Brown who happened to be Caspian's father. The Don was rich and powerful and very fond of her father. He practically sponsored her through school, and also helped with the burial expenses when her mother passed twelve years ago.Evie's life had never been easy growing up, she experienced so much hardships as a child, barely feeding as normal and hardly getting proper education. Her mother Rosa had just passed from blood cancer, and her father decided to move into the bustling city of Atlanta in search of a good job, that was how he met the Don and their life totally transformed. As a fourteen year old girl, Evie never thought of luxury or expensive things, all she knew was a life of lack and want, but since her father started his work at the factory, life became more beautiful. At first the Don gave them a chamber at his luxurious mansion, she remembers thinking that this was quite strange but her father had told her that the Don was just being a nice man. And then he proceeded to enroll her in the same school that his only son Caspian had attended. Then she began to observe that something was quite off. Though she had stayed at the mansion for almost a year before she finally met Caspian, she knew about him from the Don's workers and saw pictures of him all over the mansion. She never really spoke with the Don, even though he was responsible for her good fortune. She had always felt like the Don's kindness was too good to be true. She barely saw him as he was always very busy with his numerous factories and businesses, but he somehow managed to make time to be at the mansion whenever his son Caspian was back from college on holidays. He would also make sure that her and Caspian would spend most evening's together.Although she enjoyed the company of having someone to talk to when her father was at work at the factory, she didn't always look forward to seeing Caspian. He was cute ,quite muscular for his seventeen years of age and very well spoken ,spending time with him she realized he was very rude, dismissive and arrogant. He didn't care much for his father or anyone else for that matter.Standing behind him she couldn't help but go twelve years down memory lane. Little Evie meeting young Caspian for the first time, it was mesmerizing at first talking to the young lord of the mansion and enjoying his conversations about college, but then she began to notice some strange things. She went to school in expensive cars, had a beautifully decorated pink room to herself and ate from the Brown's personal kitchen. The Don even employed a maid for her at one point so she didn't have to bother about cleaning her room, washing her hair or her dirty laundry. She was taught to prepare Caspian's favorite meals and even taught the Browns family history. It took sometime before she finally realized that she was being groomed for him.
