Chapter 6 - Little Xeno

553 Words
After I had calmed down I went to check if the girls and little Xeno were okay. Fortunately, Xeno only had a broken arm and the little girl - who's too stubborn to share her name - had a few minor scrapes as well as a few broken bone. Luckily since she had already got her wolf she healed rather quickly, and the other older girl she was rather, a... interesting case. After being examined by one of my packs doctors, they reported that she had a few cuts and bruises that haven't fully healed and there were signs of her being tortured, which was interesting since I've never heard of any pack doing that to their own pack members. It broke my heart to think that there could possibly be more cases like this, so I kept her here at our little 'base camp' and gave my doctors permission to give her treatment since she wasn't waking up anytime soon. With that being said, I went to check on everyone then went to go spend time with my little Xeno. I adopted little Xeno when he was about 3 because his parents had been taken and tortured by rogues while I was on a trip, which ripped my heart apart a little more since his parents and I had grew somewhat close. I had major trust issues and I didn't want little Xeno to go to a family he barely knows, so I did everything I needed to do in order to adopt him. I've had him with me for about 3 years now, and every holiday we visit his parents grave and talk to them, at first it was hard but slowly it became tradition to see them every holiday. I wish they were here, but that's life - everyone has to die at some point, as much as I hate to admit it, it's true.  Ever since he had moved in with me I did everything I could to make him happy. I don't want to pretend or force him to call me his mom, but every now and then it slips. So, for his 5th birthday I got him a necklace that has both his mom and dad's pictures that way if he's ever down or misses them he can open it and see them. He wanted one with me in it too, I felt like it didn't feel right but he wouldn't talk to me unless I added my self to it, so I got a new one that has a picture of his mom and dad holding him in a family picture as well as one of me and him when we went to his first car race. I remember that day like it was yesterday, which it was - before we came to this pack I took him, it was hilarious he was so excited I had hold him in my lap because he ran onto the track scaring me half to death. Towards the end he wanted all kinds of sweets, and since I forgot to get him something on his birthday I had promised to make it up to him, and so he traded that promise for all kinds of sweets. Which I later regretted because he was on a sugar high all day.
