Chapter two

1082 Words
"Leave me alone!" She snarled, she really wished she didn't leave her pepper spray that was hooked to her keychain in her room. But Jessica swore they wouldn't need it. The other two men grabbed her from behind. "Such a feisty little bird," one laughed in her ear as he took a loud sniff. "Hmm she smells so tasty!" She fought against them, but the two were inhumanly strong and pushed her down into the concrete. Her head bounced, and a sharp pain shot from the back of her head flashing colors behind her eyes. "Now, now," the one in front waved his hand. She could have sworn she was seeing double as her head throbbed. "You got to share her." He laughed. This is it. Katherine thought. I'm going to die. She was praying that a car would drive by, scaring them away but no one drove past, no one even walked past. She felt around looking for a rock or piece of glass to protect herself, but in her struggle she must have kicked them away. Suddenly something sharp pierced her neck, she screamed as one of the men covered her mouth with his large freezing hand. His blood crazed red eyes peered into hers. "Stop." A voice boomed. The three men froze in place, letting her go. She scrambled to her feet, forcing herself to break through the lightheadedness. The three men walked past her. She spotted a fourth, a tall man with long white hair, who wore an outfit that looked like something from a vampire movie. Or maybe it was her throbbing head that made it seem like he was. He walked towards them, the three others even seemed to cower in his presence. Katherine braced herself against the concrete railings. She could feel the blood dripping down her neck, burning her as it dripped down. "What are you doing here?" One of the men hissed. "You're interrupting our meal." They three growled as the world started to spin and Katherine started to grow tired and began to sink back down to the earth. "I do apologize," the fourth pushed past them. "It's just one problem, you see," he kneeled in front of Katherine, shedding his outer coat and placing it on her. Shielding her from the cold. His violet eyes stared into hers, he touched her neck and closed his eyes. "Your meal happens to be my mate." He hissed as he turned, standing in front of her. One of the men lunged at him, claws outstretched towards him. He grabbed the man's hands, crushing it with one touch. "Go." He dropped the man, as he crumbled to the ground, the other two staring at the third in horror. "Leave before I change my mind and kill you." Without a single word, the two grabbed their friend and they ran. "Forgive me, my pet," her savior whispered as he leaned closer to her. Who is he? I want to thank him before I die. Katherine thought as the world grew dark, and she drifted away. Heaven, that's where she must be. Afterall, she had never laid on such a comfy bed before in her life. She smiled as she kept her eyes closed, yes, I must be in heaven. She thought, she stretched her arms out. Crash! Katherine bolted up in bed, her eyes flew open as she stared at the room. She wasn't in heaven, there were no clouds, no angels. Just antique dark furniture and candles brightening up the room. She was alive, had to be. She could still feel the throbbing on the back of her head and her neck was still sore. Her neck, with a shaky hand she touched her neck only to find a bandage that had been neatly wrapped into place. She was alive, she sighed with relief. It hurt, but she was still alive. Only question was where was she? The place she was in was unfamiliar to her. She looked down, she wasn't in her costume anymore but a heavy long sleeve nightgown. She shivered, someone undressed her to put her into these clothes. She swung her legs on the size of a large bed, where she finally noticed that she wasn't in the large room alone. She screamed, startled by the girl kneeling in front of a shattered bowl. The girl in front of her was a similar age as Katherine, but with very pale skin, large neon green eyes, she had a tiny nose and soft features . And dark brown hair piled into a large tight bun. She wore a long black dress with puffy sleeves and a single white apron. "F-forgive me, my lady!" The maid scrambled to her feet before bowing awkwardly. "I was coming to wash your face and I dropped the bowl!" "Jesus," Katherine placed a hand over her heart and gasped. "You scared the crap out of me." She stood up and stretched, there she even noticed that her foot was wrapped with a bandage as well. "Oh no, my lady!" The maid panicked. "Y-you mustn't stand in your condition!" Startled, Katherine sat back down on the edge of bed. "My condition?" She asked slowly, the maid sighed with relief seeing that Katherine was no longer standing. "Yes, my lady." She bent back down to pick up the glass shards. "When the Master brought you, you were injured and unconscious." She looked up, making sure Katherine was still sitting. "How long?" Katherine asked, swallowing hard. "How long have I been unconscious?" "Five days, my lady." The color in Katherine's face drained. "B-but worry not! It was I who dressed and cared for you! I promise the Master saw nothing!" Katherine sighed with relief. "You needn't worry, Ancelin took good care of you." "Ancelin, is that your name?" Katherine asked her, she was gentle since the maid sounded like she was going to cry at the drop of a hat. "Yes, my lady." Ancelin finally finished putting all the glass shards in her apron. "Please stay there until I get back, Master will be angry if he finds out about this!" "Where are you going?" Katherine's eyes widened as Ancelin did a quick bow before rushing out the large wooden doors and into a dark hallway. Leaving Katherine alone in the strange room. Heaviness weighed on her heart, as she laid on her side. Where am I? She thought, absentmindedly chewing on her finger nail. I want to go home.
