One kiss may start a war.”Evelyn Nightshade, the proud princess of the Silverfang Pack, has spent her life preparing to become the perfect Luna—powerful, poised, and loyal to her kind. Her destiny was sealed: marry the Alpha of a rival pack to end a century-old feud and unite the werewolf clans. But one forbidden night changes everything. When Evelyn secretly slips into the human realm seeking freedom before her binding ceremony, she’s attacked—not by a rogue, but by Lucien D’Aragon, the exiled Vampire King believed to be long dead. His bite doesn’t kill her—it awakens an ancient curse hidden in her bloodline. Now, Evelyn finds herself marked by a vampire, caught between the world she was born to rule and a darkness that pulls her deeper with every heartbeat. As forbidden attraction sparks between them and a war looms between vampires and werewolves, Evelyn must choose between duty and desire, fate and freedom. But the deeper her bond with Lucien grows, the more deadly secrets she uncovers—ones that could destroy them both.

The Vampire's Mark
The scent of lavender and burning pine wafted through the corridors of the Silverfang palace, but Evelyn Nightshade barely noticed. She sat by the wide arched window of her chamber, dressed in an embroidered gown of midnight blue that shimmered faintly under the glow of moonlight. Her long silver hair cascaded down her back like a waterfall of light, unbraided for the first time in weeks. But tonight wasn’t about elegance—it was about suffocation. Beyond the glass, the full moon hung heavy in the sky, bright and distant, like a silent witness to her imprisonment. “Tomorrow,” she whispered to herself, clutching the window sill, “I become someone else.” Her engagement to Alpha Kael of the Ironclaw Pack was the most anticipated event in recent werewolf history. Two powerful packs joined in peace—bound not by treaty, but by blood. Her blood. Duty. Honor. Unity. Words that had been drilled into her since she was old enough to shift. Words that tasted like iron now, sharp and cold. She was to become a Luna, a symbol of hope and leadership. But no one had asked if she wanted any of it. A gentle knock interrupted her brooding. Mira, her handmaid and childhood friend, entered carrying a tray of tea laced with calming herbs. “You’re still up,” Mira said softly, setting the tray down. “You need rest. Tomorrow’s the ceremony.” “I don’t need to rest,” Evelyn murmured, rising to her feet. “I need to feel alive.” Mira hesitated, looking her over. “You haven’t been the same since they announced the union. You hardly shift anymore. You don’t run. You don’t laugh.” “I’m tired of being what everyone expects.” Evelyn walked to her vanity, staring into the silver-framed mirror. “Do you know what Kael said when we met?” Mira shook her head. “He said I’d make a strong Luna... like a prize warhorse. He didn’t even look at me—just my title. My lineage.” “You don’t have to go through with it,” Mira said, voice low and daring. Evelyn gave a hollow laugh. “If I ran, it would start a war.” “Then maybe it’s time you did something reckless,” Mira whispered, stepping closer. “There’s a harvest festival in the human town tonight. Just beyond the southern woods.” Evelyn turned sharply. “Are you serious?” “I’ll cover for you. Take my cloak, stay in the shadows. Shift if you must, but come back before dawn.” A heartbeat passed. Then Evelyn smiled—slow and dangerous. “Get me my boots.” --- An hour later, Evelyn stood at the forest’s edge, cloaked in black, the wind tugging at her hood. The palace was far behind her now, its lights distant glimmers across the treetops. Her wolf growled in anticipation. Run, it urged. And she did. She raced through the trees, her senses sharpening. Earth. Moss. Bark. Her muscles stretched, her blood hummed. For the first time in weeks, Evelyn felt free. Alive. The scent of fire and roasted corn hit her before she saw the village. Humans gathered around bonfires, dancing and drinking. Laughter rose into the sky. Children ran with sparklers, their faces painted like autumn spirits. No one noticed the cloaked figure slipping into the shadows near the edge of the celebration. Evelyn wandered, marveling at their joy, their freedom. No one bowed, no one called her Luna. She was just another face in the crowd. She smiled beneath her hood, watching a couple kiss beneath a lantern. Then—a shift in the air. Her senses flared. Her wolf stilled. A presence. Cold. Powerful. Ancient. She turned, scanning the alley behind the tavern. He stepped from the shadows like smoke—tall, draped in black, his eyes glowing faintly violet beneath the hood of his cloak. His face was chiseled, beautiful in a way that defied time. But it was his aura that stopped her breath. Predator. “You’re far from your kingdom, little wolf,” he said, voice like dark silk. She didn’t move. “And you’re not human.” “No,” he said, stepping closer. “But neither are you. Not entirely.” Her heart raced. What does he mean? “Who are you?” she asked. “Lucien,” he replied, bowing slightly. “And you… smell divine.” Before she could react, he moved. Too fast. His hand gripped her waist, the other cradling her neck. His lips hovered over her skin, breath cold against the heat of her pulse. “Don’t—” she started, but his fangs pierced her skin. A gasp tore from her lips as pain bloomed, spreading like wildfire. Her knees gave out, and the world tilted, dimmed, spun— Lucien’s voice echoed, distant and strange. “Impossible…” Then—darkness.
