Brunch

1048 Words
Soft and yet deep, the voice like dark red velvet and yet vaguely familiar.    Rayvn and I jump at the voice behind, my heart beating a thousand miles an hour as to how the figure managed to get behind me without making a sound. The soft sweet smell of soap and lemons draws me to see who now stands behind, the figure comes into view, wisps of black smoke catches the corner of my eye evaporating as I meet those starry violet eyes.     Julian dressed in a simple and yet deep navy tunic, the last of the black smoke lick at his neck and hands before almost retreating into the collar and cuffs of his jacket. The thick dark material of his jacket more or less fitted his unholy body, outlining every curve of lethal muscle underneath. His obsidian black hair curling at his collar as if to whisper to be tamed. His unholy skin seemed to be blessed by Helios the Sun God himself. Catching my wandering stare, the corners of his faint red lips tugged upwards creating a devilish smirk on his unholy face; finding it amusing of my now heated cheeks.      "Well Ravyn as much as we like a history lesson, brunch will become lunch and we wouldn't want to keep Ebony waiting would we?" Julian asks raising his arm for me to take. Hesitantly I reach up taking his arm, the thick fabric surprisingly soft like freshly brushed cloth under my fingers, he smiles down at me a soft sweet smile almost pleased at the contact. Then turning to Rayvn and raising his eyebrow, almost challenging Rayvn in a silent contest a smirk playing at the corners of his flush red lips.     Smiling, Rayvn points a slim ringed finger, moonstone set in her silver ring shining, her nails painted a midnight blue as she points at Julian "If I didn't do it now then no one would do it at all, especially you Julian. You'd probably lose the poor girl in this place."      "At least I don't bore company with history lessons of old vampire tales" Julian says with a small laugh. Letting out a light laugh only to be interrupted by a growling of my stomach , the two turn to face me, their now wide-eyed look of interest and almost what seemed to be amazement crosses over there faces. There lingering eyes causing the feeling of growing heat on my now reddened cheeks.     Throwing up her slim pale ringed hands,  Rayvn starts walking off towards the blizzard stained glass doors leaving Julian and I to follow. Looking over at Julian he gives me a small nod "First taste of freedom and we are already staving you, I'm sorry" He says with a small laugh as we start towards the doors, our steps filling the empty space of the grand hall. Feeling my heart pick up its pace, the tightness in my chest I feel myself closing up after hearing words of freedom, feeling my eyes start to water I let the silence grow between us, not knowing how to respond.      As we reach the door, Rayvn waves her arm out in front of herself and the fairly large stained glass door, glimmering the blizzard opens for us, letting almost a breath of winters air. Blinking my eyes at the brightness of the room, round and multiple levels before me, rows and rows of wooden book shelves each filled to the brim with books, the rows never ending leading into darkness.     Floating in the middle of the room a giant bronze and blue globe slowly rotating on nothing suspended by magic I suppose. in  And in the middle of the beautiful library laid a grand golden table lined with tiered silver plates of colourful fruits, frosted cakes and small triangle sandwiches.      As we walk towards the the table I find myself staring up at the roof, as if the roof itself was made of glass and I could see the sky and clouds of the day outside. As if to read my thoughts Rayvn seems to answer the lingering question in my head, "Mirror magic I think, projects the image of whats outside up there. Only it doesn't burn vampires like the actual sunlight, imagine that a killer library for vampires" she says with a soft laugh, one that made me smile.      Now standing at the table Rayvn settles herself down in a lovely plush chair one of three that sit around the table. Julian guides me over to a chair opposite the other empty chair pulling it out for me, "Please, have a seat, lets get some food into you" Julian says with a small bow.      Giving him a small smile I sit in the padded gold chair, a similar design to the table. Walking over to his chair and taking a seat, I find myself not knowing what to do or say, rather I just look at or the small silver platters filled with food. Feeling two sets of eyes on me, I look up to see Julian and Rayvn just blatantly looking at me strangely.     I feel myself gulp down my embarrassment, I finally find the courage to say something, "Well shall we eat, I don't know about you but I'm famished".     And with that Rayvn burst out laughing her pale face going a faint tinge of red, looking of at Julian a smirk spread across his face as he lets out a deep laugh making my cheeks redden and my heart miss beat. His laugh almost stirring a butterflies in my belly and with that I pick up a small pink cake that smelled strongly of strawberries and cream.      Finishing the cake and licking the icing of my fingers i spot the cutlery on the table and I pick up the small cup of tea next to my plate, forgetting my table manners completely. Lift up the blue and white porcelain cup I clear my throat and look up at Julian, "To new found freedom and friendships" i say with a small smile and with that Julian and Rayvn lift up up cups a warm smile on both their faces.     Finding myself staring at Julian, he gives me a wink before settling into the brunch in front of us.
