Chapter 13: The Venomous Step-Mother

In the Cabhoven Camp where soldiers from the capital are camping. A red-haired beauty is standing in the barricade gate. Her hair has been tied into a ponytail. She has a charming appearance. One horn is in the middle of her forehead and her eyes are as beautiful as an ocean. 

"Thank you for bringing the child back to me. Fufu she is so naughty." Her eyes become a crescent moon and the three soldiers can't help but stare at her dazely. 

"Of..  ofcourse... Ahem! I mean Mrs. Dopelin, it's also our duty that we must bring our race who had been lost back into our camp so you do not need to thank us." One of them cleared his throat. He kept throwing hidden glances at the voluptuous breast in her rag attire. 

"Hmm. But I still needed to thank you right?" She winked at them. While straightening her posture to make her figure look more seductively. 

The three drooled. The soldiers in the left shake his head. He whispered, "We can't. She's now the captain's wife." It makes the other two snap back, regaining their senses from the beauty in front of them.

"Ahem! There is no need to. We still have our duty to do. Iris, little lady come here. Do not make your mother wait for too long." He looked at his behind, and pushed gently for Iris to move forward. 

Iris is lowering her head. Her looks are solemn. Mrs. Dopelin grabbed her to her side, "You little child, what would your father tell you if he knew that you went out from the camp." She still smiled softly while scolding the little child. 

"How lucky for Captain Xien to have this gentle and beautiful wife."

"Aside from that she has a sexy body. Tsk tsk, after Arienna's death, I thought that captain will be forever alone because we knew how he love Arienna so much."

"Yeah! But after 1 month, the captain brought this woman. And promised his love to her, hehe I can see why though."

"She is good too Iris too. What a virtuous lady." 

Iris is listening to the remarks of the demi-human soldiers around her. Her eyes glistened. Her step-mother is still holding both of her shoulders while 'softly' scolding her. They can't see that her stepmother holds in her both shoulders is tightening. 

"Mrs.. aah.." Iris softly cried. Her step mother's grab tightened again. 

"Iris are you alright?" One of the soldiers asked her. Ms. Dopelin moves to hug her. 

"It's okay honey. Mom is now here. Are you scared? Hmm?"  She gently tried to 'comfort' the little girl in her arms and the crowd can't help but commend her gentle persona again. 

Dopelin moved her mouth to Iris' ears and cruelty said to her in a low voice, "It's mom not Mrs., you ignorant child." 

Iris trembled and kept her sobs more quietly. 

Dopelin moves her hand to hold Iris' hand. Iris didn't struggle and let her, she just lowered her head.

The loving mother figure and the guilty child who had just done a mistake left in the sight of the soldiers. The one who witnessed it can't help but think that Dopelin is a loving mother for having a patient to such a naughty child.

*Bogsh* 

Inside the tent, the loving mother figure of Dopelin is gone and changed into a cruel stepmother. She pushed Iris into the ground, "Why? Why did you come back? Didn't I tell you to go out and look for your father?"

"Mrs.. mom. I looked for dad but didn't see him. Gobi and I are still looking for his tracks." Iris sobs, she is hungry and thirsty at the same time. They have been in the middle of the desert ever since morning. And she just came back home. Looking at the color of the sky outside, it was near evening. 

"Useless.. you should.." 'Not come back and let the other race kill you.' Dopelin kicked her in frustration. She planned to use this time without her father. And make an 'accident' for this child.

Iris only keeps sobbing. Every time her dad was gone, this woman kept bullying her. Her dad thought she was a good woman but not in front of her.
