Mystery
It was on a Friday evening and the clocks were ticking nineteen. On my bed, I lay motionless. laying blatantly staring into my ceilings. Silent yet emotionless. I could hear drums of the music and noises not so far away in town. Voices of my peers cherishing the little moments of their lives. And here I am, on my bed in big ass clothes looking like a zombie. A tear dropped down on my cheek as I imagined the days I used to be so full of life, the days when all the living things crawled down to my feet, the days of my reign. I took my phone and went through my watsapp feed. Everybody seemed satisfied with their lives but there was something missing in my life. A space in me needed to be filled with God knows what. ♡♡♡♡ After few hours of constant imagination, my phone beeped. "Babes why ain't you chilling with us tonight?" A friend of mine texted. *Cindy* is a down to earth lover of life. She finds pleasure in all the things of this world and simply staying at home being suffocated by boredom wasn't part of her vocabulary. "I got staff to do today. You girls have fun aight" I replied. "On a friday? Girl come on" She insists. "Yeah." "We're coming to get you. Jay's driving" Jay is my guy bestfriend. He's always been there for me but I was just over that all chill out phase. I didn't know what to say to them so I switched my phone off and laid still. "Should I watch a movie?" I asked myself. "Nah I can't, maybe I should go take a shower" after a little contemplation, I took my white towel and ran all the way to the bathtub to have a long warm Princess bath. My phone started playing blues as I sat peacefully into the tub, playing back memories of all the time I had in the past. Eventually a memory of the past collided into my bleak thoughts and my mood changed. I was about to get ready for bed when a door bell rang. "Hold on" I shouted. "Ready to go?" Cindy jumped in excitement after I opened the door. "Guys what are you doing here?" I asked in confusion. "Saving you from your dilemma" Jay replies. "Told you guys I wasn't in the mood to go anywhere today" I sighed toeing to my bed. "Kayla for how long will you keep hiding? You need to go out. Meet new people. You're still young. Days like this ain't ever gonna return." Cindy prep's my shoulders. "I'm over that already. I'm tired of meeting new people who in the end are just gonna leave. It's not worth it Cindy. please just let me be" "Kayla you've been single for as long as I can remember. How do you expect to meet someone if you keep living in your own shadows?" "Excuse me, I'm not that desperate!" I rolled my eyes. "I know but you ain't growing any younger" "Who said being in love is an accomplishment? besides how do you expect me to meet a descent guy in a Club? You've got to be kidding!" I rolled my eyes yet again. "Kayla we all know 'The Boiler' is a place of Arts. There's so many people who've been through the same journey as you and there's literally nothing to be worried about." "You talk as if I haven't heard the same tale before" "Gosh, you're so difficult, just get dressed already!" ♡♡♡♡ I knew they were hiding something from me, otherwise Cindy wouldn't try so hard to force me into coming with them. So I walked to my closet to figure out what to wear. I needed something simple but before I could decide on my outfit, I turned around and gave them a glare. Cindy exchanged glances with Jay and both signs in unison. "We have a surprise for you. please just get dressed and if you don't like it, I promise I'll bring you back home in no time" Jay cleared his throat and made his way out to give me privacy to get ready. I bit my lip and wondered if I should really go. The last time I went out was a disaster. Finally I took my tight waist black Jean and a nicely designed shirt. I grabbed my Nike sneakers and do a little touch up on my face. Finally I glanced myself through the mirror to furnish my edges. "I'm ready" Cindy and I made ourselves to my small kitchen, where we found Jay making peace with my Fridge. "Don't worry, I'll buy you food next week" he cuts me off before I could say anything. I just laughed and shaked my head out. "It's gonna be lit tonight " Cindy yells excitedly. All way long I wondered what tonight holds but I guess only the universe could tell.
