"Three days, Ellaire! Three days since you kept avoiding my questions! What is going on? Is there something that bad that you can't tell me? Did anything change so drastically in this time when I thought you were dead?" I shout as a way to calm Ellaire.
'How can she be like this - like nothing matters?'
"I told you I would tell you when I will be ready, my love. Now calm down. Let me make tea for you." She said and started walking towards the door.
"Tea?! Is that what you think I need right now? Tea?!" I shouted again and hurried past her, exiting my bedroom. Yeah, my bedroom, as we still have separate rooms.
I feel like we are so far apart, even when standing in the same room.
"Levi, wait!" Ellaire said from behind me, but I kept walking, ignoring her.
After I got out of the building, I stopped, closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"It seems like there are troubles in Paradise." I heard someone say in an amused voice.
"The last person I wanted to see. What do you want, Matias? Did she send you?" I asked, annoyed.
"What? No! I don't think that would be necessary. You can't get out of here even if you want to." He said and stopped abruptly. I could see it in his eyes - regret. Was he regretting what he had just said?
"What do you mean? I can leave whenever I want to. I am not your prisoner anymore, remember?" I added, trying to push him a bit. Maybe he will give more details about how I can not leave. Were they all hiding things from me? Was I still a prisoner in my Mate's Pack?
"Well, I should get going. I am wanted in the training area. You take care and try not to upset Luna too much. She can have a temper sometimes." Matias said and left in a blink of an eye.
'That was weird.' Came my wolf's voice.
'Shade?' I asked, excited.
'Who else could have been, dumb**s?' He said, amused.
He was making his appearance more frequently in the last two weeks - the thing that kept my spirit up. There was something off about this place, maybe even about my Mate. All I wanted to find out is if this Pack makes her the way she is or vice versa. She wasn't like I remembered her anymore; she was changed. As much as I've tried to make myself believe everything is fine, it is not.
'I agree. Something is off.' Shade said, interrupting my thoughts.
'You already forgot about me, don't you? So much for don't leave me alone!' He added, chuckling.
'Well, you were the one that wanted to go, blaming me for all the stuff that happened.'
'Indeed. And I still do. But now we need to focus on these guys here. I think they did something to our Mate. And if that's the case, I will k**l them!'
I was about to answer him when I bumped into something. I didn't even realise I was walking till now.
"What the hell?" I shout, lifting my gaze to see who or what I bumped into so suddenly.
But to my surprise, there was no one.
I stepped forward and bumped again.
"What the f*ck?! Who the…"
I started saying but stopped abruptly when Matias' words came running through my head.
'Was he talking about this? A shield? But why would she do this? Is she afraid that I would leave? Is it because she doesn't want anyone to get out or in?'
Even more, questions that I had already started building up in my mind.
I looked once more at the invisible wall and felt the need to touch it. Without overthinking about it, I let my hand action.
Everything on the other side looked so foggy, and I was sure it was even worse looking from there. If Ellaire had made this, she probably wouldn't want any unexpected guests. I was staring into the void, with my palm wide open, when I felt a tingling in my fingers that soon started to travel up my arm.
I quickly retracted my hand, and I froze. Covered in the same cloak with only her black eyes penetrating my soul, Aleera was staring at me. She was holding her hand the same way I was, indicating that she, too, felt the sparks.
Her eyes widened, and her mouth opened in repeated ways. She talked with me, but I couldn't make a word. Her beautiful eyes filled with worries like we were in great danger.
I was way too focused on her lips that were moving continuously that I hadn't heard someone coming my way till she spoke.
"Levi, my love! I was looking for you! What are you doing here?" Ellaire said in the same calm and somehow warm voice.
I turned quickly to face my Mate, feeling like I was betraying her because I admired another woman. But weird things were going on, something that I could not explain.
'How can it be possible to feel those sparks at her touch? Was it the wall? Weren't we supposed to feel that only with our Mates?' I thought, looking at my hand.
"Levi? I was talking to you. Are you alright? Did something happen?" Ellaire asked and grabbed my hand, analysing it.
"What? No!" I said too quickly, pulling my hand even more quicker.
She squinted her eyes and then looked behind me.
I turned to look in the same way, hoping that Alleera was gone for her good, even if, deep down, I wanted to admire her a little bit longer.
'What the f*ck, Levi? You have your Mate now! She is alive; she is with you now? How can you do this to her?!' I said to myself, trying to brush away the thoughts I had a moment earlier.
"Why did you come here, Levi?" Ellaire asked me suspiciously.
"Why did I come? Why aren't you telling me what the hell this means?" I asked, sounding a bit annoyed while pointing at the wall.
