Fearful

1009 Words
Now, now. Was that hesitation I felt? Are you lying to me, Medulla? What is your true name? My voice rattles through her small body. I dip my large dragon head down in front of her, looking her in the eyes. She looks away, ashamed for lying to me.  I did lie, my name is Alona. Did you think you could get away with your untruthfulness? You must think I'm stupid, little one. N-no! You're not stupid! Then why lie?! It shall get you nowhere but across my knee! I'm sorry! I just want to go home! Fine! Go to your home and I'll come get you when I'm ready to face you. Never lie to me again, little one. I spew venom with my words coursing through her, but I will never stand to see someone lie to me. Alona turns and runs from me, and I watch as she flees down the road to town, never looking back at me. I transform back into my human form, finding my clothes strewn where I previously transformed. I slip back into them and return to my chamber, making sure I cover my bottom half more than the top. Alona, Alona, Alona. The name chants in my head, never leaving me. I pace about my chamber after finding some new pants to put on. A knock on my door brings me out of my thoughts. "Adonis? Are you in there? I wanted to say I'm sorry." Alona. She's come back, or never left. "Enter." Her little body pushes the large door open. Her gaze finds me, though she casts her eyes down just as fast. She comes in and stands there, waiting for something. "Close the door." She nods and does so. "You betrayed me. I have given you no reason to not trust me, yet you lie to me! You're selfish!" "I'm selfish! You had me locked in a cell just to know my name after scaring the daylights out of me! You order me to see you on a strict time order! I come back to tell you my apologies and I'm selfish?! I'm not coming back this time!" She turns to run from me but I reach out and grab her arm. "You're not leaving in the first place. You are mine now. You will stay under my watch until I see that you can be trusted." I pull her close and wrap my hand around her neck. I lean down as I pull her back to my chest and whisper in her ear. "Don't forget I rule this land, the people in it, and every land around. Do you know why?" She shakes her head at me. "Fear. Everyone fears me because I will kill without a second thought. You should fear me, too, Alona. I like you, so I might have mercy. You cross me again and I won't." I feel a shiver run down her back, knowing I struck fear in her at last. I bite her neck hard, then kiss it better afterward. "Do you understand me, Alona?" "Y-yes." "Yes, what?" "Yes, sir. I understand, I won't cross you. I promise to be honest with you about anything you ask, just please allow me to return to town and do not hurt me." "No. You will prove your word by staying here where I can keep an eye or two on you at all times. You are my pet now, Alona." I whisper the last part against her neck, my breath sending shivers down her back. I smile against her skin, knowing I have her now. She shakes her head at me, chanting no in her pretty head. "One thing I might add, I'm not keen on letting my pets go if I like them. Ask my last ones, I had them for years. Now, it's been quite a long day and the sun is setting, get to bed. I'll have someone go get the things you may want tomorrow." I smack her on the bottom and call for a servant. Soon enough Rix is at my door, "Yes, sir?" "Take Miss Alona to the guest room. The elegant one, next to the garden. She is staying there until I see she is fit to come out. I'll call for you to gather her myself. See that she is bathed and fed then to sleep. I shall go on my evening flight over the city. If she is not in her chamber, tucked nicely in her bed smelling of lavender and fed like a queen, I shall ensure hell." "Yes, sir. I shall see to it all myself. Good night, sir." "That's why you're my favorite, Rix. Good night." Rix takes Alona to her room and I strip down naked, transforming into my dragon form. I fly through my door on the far outside wall and over the forest. Be good for me, or you shall see my wrath. It's not as nice as I was to the men who put their hands on you. I do not like to be lied to, Alona. Remember that always. O-okay. It is near sunrise when my anger starts to settle. I was harsh on her, but she needed scolding after trying to lie to me, the great king. I come home to my castle still in my dragon form, but weak. Spending an entire night in my large dragon form is hard on my body. I land in my chambers and turn back into my human form. Pulling on some sleeping pants, I lie down in my bed and call for Rix. "Rix. I need Alona woken and fed as a queen. She may have a walk in the garden if is she so chooses. If not, return her to her chambers and allow her to relax. I'm afraid I might have scared her too much last night." Rix nods and leaves me to my sleep. Good morning, my little one. Rix has instructions for you, listen to them or be punished. She does not respond, and I know I have put true fear in her. Knowing I have scared her into her place makes me smile. My eyes close as I drift off into a sleep filled with dreams of Alona.
