I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to complete the task Bryn had set.
It's true that a hunter can't rely on strength alone. Bryn had shown me that strategy and intelligence are almost as important, if not more, than physical ability.
"Earth to Lex," Z calls, waving in my field of vision.
"Hmm?"
"You're away with the fairies, babe," Mei says around a mouthful of sausage and scrambled egg.
"Sorry."
I pop another piece of bacon in my mouth and chew slowly.
"Sounds like you did pretty well, considering he only gave you ten minutes," Z says. "He seems like a decent guy."
Z looks up after finishing the food in his mouth and fixes his gaze on me.
"Why'd he offer to help?"
I shrug.
"He said he found me interesting."
