CHAPTER 3: I still am

“Thanks for bringing me here, I have been exhausted these past few days.” “I would expect that, considering you are planning a wedding that you are also maid of honor at. Justino is so thoughtless for putting you through this.” He said and sipped his coffee. His expression was different for a second. It gave off a bit of annoyance, like he was mad. “Not Justin, Julia, she is the one who is putting me through this. So I suggest we don’t blame him. Julia can be quite persuasive when she wants something. “Sarah replied with a sigh. She suddenly remembered something and gasped. “Today I need to supervise the video dairies. What is the time now?” “9 AM” he said calmly. A maid walked in and he gestured for her to come closer and deliver the things in her hands. She bowed politely to Sarah and carefully placed her phone and purse on the table next to her before rising and walking out. A gracious smile laced Sarah’s lips as she said thank you to the maid with a whisper and a slight quick bow. Walking out the little maid's expression was that of disbelief. She had worked at the mansion since she was little. None of the young ladies who visited the place were offered such grand treatment. It was the first time she saw her boss eat with anyone at the same table, not to mention sitting so close to each other. And this young lady seemed to be quite the opposite of every other lady who had visited the mansion. Everyone else seemed to know exactly where they fit, and would never address any of the help anyway. But this woman even said thank you and bowed. As soon as her body stepped out of the dining hall, her feet paced up , it seemed that new lady would be the topic of discussion for the next week or two in this house where nothing exiting ever happens. Back in the dining room, two unevenly matched individuals sat and ate breakfast together. One with all the class and elegance in the world. The other is slightly hungover, unwell, and ill-placed and clearly lacking in table etiquette. Rummaging through her purse she found the keys to her room, her cards and everything still in place. Not that it could have been stolen, just lost. Yes, she was just making sure that she didn’t lose anything on the way there. She picked up the keys so it wouldn’t look like she was suspecting him of theft. She then dropped the purse, picked up her phone and tried to power it on. To her surprise, it was fully charged. ‘He must have had someone charge it’ she thought silently to herself. As soon as it was done booting, the lock screen was flooded with messages and notifications. “208 missed calls!” She gasped. “Why the hell is she calling me two hundred and eight damn times!” looking through the call history she finds that it was Julia calling. “Julia?” he checks. “Yeah.” She starts to worry that something might be wrong, so she decides to call back. The line rings for a while before it gets connected. “Hey, I just saw your missed calls, is everything OK?” Sarah asked anxiously, only to hear Justin’s voice instead. “Yup, everything is fine. She was just calling to check up on you. Where were you ?” he whispered. “Why are you whispering?” she whispered back. “Because her morning sickness started and she didn’t want to hear people breathe. Please come back. Save me” Justin said, trying to sound miserable. “OK, I’m on my way. Let’s meet for lunch. We need to discuss the sitting arrangements for tomorrow’s reception party. And tell her she can’t keep adding events to the plan the day before.” “Not me. You tell her. She’ll murder me” he exaggerated again. She just rolled her eyes on the other end of the call and sighed. “Fine, just get her to lunch. Text me where you guys decide to go. I’ll go there after checking on the filming with your folks. Bye.” She said and then hung up. Looking up at the man before her, she smiled and said, “It seems I can’t take that tour today”. “Shame. “He replied calmly. “We can reschedule if you would like that.” “I wouldn't want to cause any inconvenience…”she replied. He was being so nice but all she did was create trouble for him. How could she shamelessly accept this? “Not at all. Consider it a form of fan service. It will be more of a bother to you than it will be to me, I promise.” “Oh right, fan service because you used to be a fan. But wouldn’t that be abuse of title? Besides, I’m retired . It is a disservice to you.” “I still am, so, no it's not. I’m glad to have you here. Anytime.” And with that, the home girl was whipped. Something about having such a powerful ex-fan felt so f*****g good. She was very interested in getting the man…. No, the house and its…. surroundings better.
