Chapter 21: Poisons

The two friends just sat quietly as they waited for what the officer would ask or say. They are both restless in their seats and love to leave already but they can’t. They are afraid that if the officer asks them anything else, they may be able to provide information that they will take with them into the bad side.

If they had only been prepared for such a thing, they would not have been nervous now with every question of the officer. William looked at the woman with him as she held his hand; it whispered to him reason for Mr. Lorente to look at them.

William clears his throat, he was nervous to talk but they need to leave now, “Mr. Lorente, do you still have any question to us? We still need to watch our friend in the hospital, so if you are done to questioning us can we leave?” He said.

Mr. Lorente glace at his laptop to see if he still have any question, “As of now I don’t have more questions but please answer my call every time I need you guys to talk, your answer is a big help to know what really happening.” Mr. Lorente smile, “you can leave now, your friend must waiting for you.”

The two students walk away, Mr. Lorente just watches them. He was still thinking about what could be their fault, what else could be the issue of the students then that could be the cause of what is happening now.

“Hello, good day!” A delivery guy greets Mr. Lorente, “here the foods you order earlier are you Mr. Cornel?” The guy asks, Cornel immediately take the foods.

“Finally you are here, I already pay it online. Thank you for your hard work!” Cornel said. They bid good bye to the delivery guy. “Here is yours, Lorente.”

“Thank you so much, but what about the other one?” Lorente asks in confusion.

“Oh here, this is for the woman who poisons the one student she said she was hungry and gives me some money and plea to order her something to and this is what she wants.” Cornel explains, Lorente frown but he just let it slide.

He knows that Cornel have really a soft heart and even the person is criminal, Cornel can’t help himself to felt pity to that person. He just watches his partner happily give the foods to the woman.

“You, soft hearted rascal let’s eat now.” He said when Cornel finally sitting in front of him.

“Yes, lets it now. I am so hungry; we did not even eat breakfast my knees are shaking. Look my hair I did not even comb it, I am really tried to this University case!”

Lorente can’t help but to laugh, his partner is frustrated and whimpering in front of him like a child.

“You look like your son now, whimpers because he’s hungry and no foods.” He jokingly said and started to eat.

Cornel just glares at him and started to also, they are happy eating not until the woman in the cell started to vomit.

Not a simple vomit of foods but she was vomiting a blood.

The other police in the station was also shock because of what was happening.

“f**k, w-what is happening.” Cornel was panicking, they both now what is the real reason why woman is vomiting a blood.

She was poison too.

“Call ambulance! Call them now!” Lorente shouted.

“Y-yes S-sir.” One of their junior immediately call the ambulance, but Lorente knows that its late, the lips of the woman become purple now and her eyeballs like look it will fall out in her eyes.

Her white skin became paler; she is also sweeting like crazy.

But Lorente is more worried to Cornel who was really shock about what happen.

He was the one who gave the food to the woman; he was blaming his self in his mind. He was thinking it his fault why the woman is being poison.

His hand trembled.

He feels like throwing up too.

“H-hey, Cornel do not think It your fault! No one knows that the food is poison, calm yourself down okay?” Lorente try to calm his friend, but Cornel was not listening to him.

He just stares to the woman who now is lifeless with blood dripping in her lips.

Finally the ambulance arrive, but like what Lorente think, it already late for the woman.

They can do anything but to watch how the paramedic checks the body; they lift it and put in the sketcher. They cover the dead body using a white blanket.

“Hey Cornel, are you okay?” Lorente can help but asks again his friend, he tap Cornel shoulder.

Cornel let a heavy sigh, “what was that, I handed a poison food to the person who can help us in the case, if I know that the food is poison I will not give it to her.”

“That is why, you don’t know so you give it to her. It’s not your fault that she was poison.” Lorente said. “Oh, did you remember the face of the man who delivered the foods to us? Also please call the restaurant or the place where you order the food we need to know who that man is.

“I will call the place where I order the foods?” Cornel asks again, reason for Lorente to nod.

Cornel took out his phone from his pocket, he searches the number of the place he orders the food in his contacts and calls it.

Its only took 5 rings when someone answers.

“Hello, good day! What can us for you? Do you want to order foods and deliver it to your house?” A female voice said on the other line.

“Hi. This is xxx police division, the one who order earlier can I ask if you have time to answer some questions.” Lorente, ask without hesitation.

The other line becomes silent for a second.

“What do you want to ask?”
