The Gazebo

Marli has outdone herself today, trying to make up for what happened at the party.

I feel a little guilty about letting her treat me to a day of shopping and pampering.

I mean, it's not her fault that this Henry guy approached me, the way he did.

I was the one who walked away from the crowd, so it's really my fault.

But we are definitely having a great time!

We left the Mall and stopped off at Marli's house really quick to change for dinner.

I guess we're going somewhere fancy, so we have to look the part.

Marli, turns off on a familiar road.

I started getting nervous, thinking that maybe she tricked me into going to another party.

I am so done with those for a while!

She assured me, there's no party and it would be a quick stop, for something she had forgotten the other night.

We pulled in at the field and even though I couldn't see all the details, I could see thousands of lights shining up towards the sky.

Wow! I said out loud.

Are we interrupting a romantic ceremony or something, I thought silently.

Marli and I, slowly walked down the embankment and the view was absolutely stunning.

There was a beautiful gazebo, with lights and roses completely covering it.

There was a walk way of lights, that we had stepped down on, it was gorgeous!

I gave Marli a look, letting her know that we shouldn't disturb this beautiful scenery.

But she motioned me forward.

The closer I walked towards the gazebo, the clearer I could see that someone is kneeled down on one knee. I slowed down, to almost a complete stop, when Marli whispered for me to trust her and to keep going.

I did as she asked, but I wasn't feeling the best about it.

I made it to the gazebo and the man was holding a wild rose towards me.

I slowly took the rose and he raised his head to look at me.

Shock was written all over my face, it was Henry!

What are you doing? I asked him.

He reached for my hands and pulled me closer and started to explain.

I am keeping my promise, I made to you the other night.

I am proving to you, that you and I are meant for one another. And that, there will never be another person in the world, that could ever invade my heart the way you do!

My feelings for you are pure and they're genuine!

I will spend my entire life, making you happier than you could ever believe is possible.

Give me that chance, Amethyst.

One chance, is all I am asking for.

I didn't know how to respond.

I know my jaw had to be touching the ground at this point.

He's being so sweet and he does sound genuine.

But the shock I was experiencing wasn't from his words.
