Marli

384 Words
Working at the diner has been a God send. Of course on my days off, I have so much to catch up on. Cleaning, grocery shopping, preparing meals for the work week ahead and arranging my cottage. I have so many boxes, totes, and bags that I still haven't unpacked. I honestly don't know if I'll ever have enough days off, to get it all done. I guess moving isn't as easy as people on tv, make it look. Especially, when you live alone and have absolutely, Zero Help! I'm usually completely exhausted, by the time I have to be back at work. Marli, this girl at work, has offered to come lend me a hand, but I hate feeling like a charity case. I'll get it done eventually, I'm sure. She's really sweet and bubbly. Always smiling and singing. Everyone who comes into the diner, raves about her upbeat personality. We don't get to work very many shifts together, because she's mainly on the night shift. And on the days, when we're not working together, things get a little uncomfortable for me. The really cute guy, that I have been low key crushing on, keeps hanging out at the diner and he is really starting to give me the creeps. I still think he's great looking and everything, but there's only so many silent stares, a person can handle! I can usually ignore him, with Marli singing and bouncing around the diner. She helps me to stay distracted. But there's nothing or no one here to help me with that, when it's just me! I don't know, maybe if he would actually speak when I talk, it wouldn't be so bad. But he doesn't! He just sits in the booth, fidgeting with his hands or lightly taps on the table. He literally, never speaks though. I just find it very strange. Marli, keeps telling me to relax and that he's a nice guy and that I just need to get to know him. According to everything she's told me, they grew up together. Through school, town gatherings and quite a few late night parties. She said, they've hung out their whole lives. I don't know. There's just something, really off about this guy! I can't, completely trust her word on this. THANK YOU
