I barely heard her reply. She said she didn’t do long-distance relationships. Given that I was in Canada, and she was in Norway, it meant that nothing romantic could ever develop between us. I spent most of the day in class trying to figure out if her buying us tickets to listen to classical music was romantic or not. I mean, it certainly felt romantic, but I could never be certain. I was the worst at picking up on signals. I knew that just asking her directly would clear this up, but I was terrified. I had tried to tell her how I felt several times during the last couple days, but the words wouldn’t come out. I kept imagining her rejecting me and then leaving for Norway.
