I interned at another magazine before I landed my position at L’amoureuse. I had to build my portfolio, after all. I had a few essays from school, but hardly anything that counted as a news story or a feature article. I knew if I ever wanted to land an internship with a reputable magazine, I’d have to make my portfolio better. So that’s what I did. I wrote for a digital student paper called Astra for a while. It was made up of students from all over Canada. We communicate primarily through e-mail. I managed to write a few news stories that caught the Internet’s attention, and also landed me with a glowing review from my editor. The story had been about astronomy. I honestly didn’t know much about astronomy, but I did as much research as I could, and let the experts speak for themselves. T
