Chapter 4

The next morning I called Sarah. We needed a chicks debrief and I knew neither of us were working. We loved Bush walks, so headed to a popular local spot with a couple different tracks to chose from. As we began walking I recounted our entire date.  “I’m a bit scared, Sarah. I’m crazy smitten over this guy. I can’t stop thinking about that kiss. It was like electricity. I was hardly even home either by the time he text me goodnight. Omg I’m acting like a teenager again!!” I rambled away to her.  Sarah laughed “wow. This is after just one date and your practically wanting to marry the guy! Please be careful. I really don’t want to see you hurt again. At the same time, I’m so happy to see you happy!” She gave me a side hug as we continued walking, looping back around to the carpark.  “Thanks for a chat! I needed this” I said to Sarah as we arrived at our cars.  “Der! It’s what best friends are here for!!” She replied as we hugged goodbye. “See you at work tomorrow”.  As I got into the car I checked my phone, instantly smiling at the message I had from Cody.  Hey beautiful, missed my coffee girl this morning. Would I sound too desperate if I wanted to do dinner again tonight? Xx  Eep! Two nights in a row! Honestly how could I say no!  Maybe a little, but I don’t mind ;) How about you come to my place. I’ll cook :)  ****** After our walk and then making plans for dinner with Cody, I went to the supermarket to buy supplies to cook us a nice dinner. I decided on a chicken risotto, because surely I can’t mess that up! I was also making a cheesecake for dessert. I’m a far better baker than I am a cook. I also had to clean up my house for him to come over. I vacuumed and mopped the floors, tidied away all my junk. I looked to my shelves where there was a photo of Matthew and I, unsure if I should put it away or not. I decided not to, he is a part of my history after all. Your past is what makes you who you are today. At 6.30 I heard a knock at the door, knowing it was Cody. Checked my clothes to make sure I didn’t spill anything while cooking and opened the door. I smiled, slightly taken aback by the sight that greeted me. Cody stood there, such a basic outfit of slim fitting jeans and a white tee with a lower v-neck but somehow he made basic, well smoking hot! He smiled as I stepped aside to let him in, getting a waft of his cologne as he kissed me hello on the cheek.  “Hey. So quick tour of the house as we head down. This first room is my study, then the next room here on the left is my bedroom- robe and en-suite. On the right here is spare bedroom and the next door is the main bathroom. There’s a toilet in there if you need. Then we enter out into kitchen, lounge, laundry over there and my decking out the back. It’s super basic, small but it’s only me and I own it so I’m happy.” “Perfect! Food smells amazing! I hope you didn’t go to too much trouble.” He said as he looked around, taking it all in. I noticed his eyes fell to my shelf with the photos. “This is Matthew?” He asked. “Yep” I replied slowly, not really wanting to elaborate. “Let’s eat! I’ve made a whole chocolate and raspberry cheesecake for dessert too” I said with a smile.  We ate our dinner, Cody complimenting me on my cooking skills. After dinner we sat outside on my deck area where we could take in the view. I have an outdoor couch on my deck which on these warmer nights was perfect for watching the late sunset. We sat, chatting away, Cody with his arm around my shoulders before falling into a comfortable silence.  As the sun was nearly down I suggested we have dessert, but Cody insisted we stay there, shifting his body around to look at me. I looked into his smouldering eyes knowing exactly what was coming. He leaned down, his soft lips meeting mine. Slowly I lowered myself onto my back pulling him with me. As our lips entwined, his tongue seeking permission to enter my mouth. I parted my lips as our kissing intensified, our tongues dancing. My hands roaming under his shirt, feeling his body, his muscles tensing under my touch. He moved away from my lips and started kissing down my neck, hands on my waist, then stomach. Feeling each other’s bodies, getting to know each other.  “Maybe we should stop” he said breathless. “I don’t want to push too far, too quick, it’s only our second date”.  “Probably a good idea. Keep some mystery. How about that dessert?”  “Uh yeah, sounds good” he replied sitting up. We gathered ourselves together a bit more and enjoyed some cheesecake. After that Cody thought he better go home, we both had to work in the morning. Kissing him goodnight, almost wishing he never had to leave.
