Chapter 1
As his body trembled in fear, and his swollen, red eyes stared up at me, pleading for mercy, all I could feel was anticipation pulsing through my veins.
"Hush," I softly whispered, caressing his cheek with my thumb. I bent down to place a gentle kiss on his cheek, concealing the blade in my right hand. I leaned in close to his ear, my breath hot against his skin, and whispered, "Don't worry, darling. I'll be seeing you very soon." At my touch, cowardly whimpers escaped his throat. I quickly plunged the blade into his heart, feeling a rush of satisfaction as the life drained out of him. For a moment, I stood there, feeling almost euphoric as I gazed down at his lifeless body. But then, something inside me shifted. It was as if the presence that had been controlling me had suddenly vanished, leaving me alone with the reality of what I had just done. I stumbled backwards, dropping the blade, as a wave of nausea washed over me. I doubled over, gasping for air, and felt tears streaming down my face. What had I become? How had I let my thirst for justice consume me to the point where I could commit such an act? Slowly, I rose to my feet, my legs feeling weak and unsteady. I knew I had to get out of there before anyone discovered what I had done. But as I stumbled towards the door, I knew that the memory of this night would haunt me forever, a reminder of the darkness that lay within me.
For my 23 years of living, I’ve kept my truth shrouded in darkness, a secret that only I knew. The weight of it was heavy, as if I were carrying a great burden on my shoulders. I had become skilled at disguising the monster that lurked within me, but the reality of it all was that it would, sooner or later, awaken from its slumber. In the darkness of my mind, I became something otherworldly, almost like a creature of the night. My mind would race with the endless possibilities of what I could do. What I could become. The world was my oyster, and I was the pearl.
But the light of day would, again and again, reveal my true identity. There was no escaping who I was: the Princess of Yadesea.
