Chapter Nine

470 Words
Sunday. The worst day of the week. Today was the day my husband began to go M.I.A. I secretly hated my husband's job. I give kudos to all the women who are married to doctors. Because it's extremely hard. Long hours, being alone 24/7, & the women throwing themselves at your man. It's a lot to take in, and deal with.  When I woke up, I didn't even bother to turn over, because I knew he wasn't gonna be there. I got up, threw on my robe, and began to head downstairs. I made myself a bowl of Lucky's and sat down at my kitchen table. I heard nothing but silence. Silence was very depressing to me. It was just me while my husband was at work. Every single day of the week. That's why I desperately wanted children. But my husband refused to have give me any. He never gave a specific reason, it was just no. Everytime I think about not having children, I always begin to cry. Tears began to fall down my face into my Lucky's, and I instantly lost my appetite. While I was pouring the cereal down my kitchen sink, there was a knock at my door. I closed my robe, and opened the door. There was a small red gift box, with a note attached to the side. I picked up the box, and opened the note.  It read: "To Leah: Come to Dusty's Coffee Shop Today at 1:00 ... My treat -J.Tyler" I opened the box, and it was a pair of 18 carat earrings, with a necklace to match. What the hell was he thinking? Putting this on my front doorstep! My husband could have found that. He was already suspicious about Julian and I. If he would've found this, it was gonna be hell to pay. Even though I was angry at first, I was kind of flattered. And I realized, I had nothing to do today. My husband's gonna be gone all day, I'm just going to sit here and do nothing. Hell no, I'm getting out the house. I ran upstairs and got in the shower, and the whole time I couldn't stop thinking about the note. It was sweet, and exciting at the same time. Him leaving that gift on my porch showed me that he didn't care if my husband saw it. That meant he liked to take risks. I liked that. Anyway, after I got out the shower, I slipped on my red, mid-thigh, semi tight dress. I put on my my black heels with the red on the bottom. And to top it off, the jewelry set Julian gave me. I glanced over at the clock, and it said "12:45 p.m." I grabbed my purse, sprayed on some perfume, and headed out the door.
