Chapter 8Baylee woke to sunlight streaming in through a window, hitting her closed eyelids. Oh dear. If it's that bright already, I'll have to hurry to get out before the daycare workers arrive, or, heaven forbid, the pastor. Her eyes snapped open. The clear white light had not been colored by passing through stained glass. She looked directly at a sunny window with open wooden blinds. Under her shoulder was not the thin, coarse pew cushion. Instead, her body rested comfortably on a mattress covered by a soft, smooth sheet in the color of milk chocolate. A fluffy comforter in shades of brown, blue and cream covered her body.
