“Madame Alicia, my daughter was a fool and acted out of character. Please pardon her’’. Daciana pleaded from the floor where she knelt face to the hard cemented floor of the washroom where her daughter had been dragged away days ago.
Alicia was a notorious woman. If there was anything that woman loved more than her son and money, it was the tears of people begging her and the feeling of being superior to humans like herself. The comical part of Alicia’s life was the fact that she was technically just a slave herself that had more freedom and rights due to the money her husband’s family had accumulated all through their existence.
Everyone knew it was futile to plead with that woman, but yet here was Daciana, a humble slave and mother kneeling on the hard uneven cemented floor and begging for her daughter’s release. Oh, what a fool she was.
Alicia laughs out , clearly amused by the pathetic situation of the woman in front of her. She hisses out , while her eyes roll as she stares at the woman in front of her.
“You must be as crazy as your daughter if you think I am just going to let her go. You must be really stupid as well, Daciana!’’. Alicia breathes in to calm herself down while the poor woman trembles on the ground beneath her.
Daciana dared to raise her head up, though she didn’t look at the woman straight in her eyes, “Ma’am I am willing to do anything....’’
“Just stop! I have heard that line a million times and it is honestly infuriating. Go home Daciana. Your daughter belongs to me and I’ll do with her how i please. You should have trained her better.’’ Alicia signals to her guard Steven to drag the woman out.
“Ma’am Please!, Please , she will die’’. Daciana begs as Steven drags her out.
Alicia gets up from her sit and releases a long sigh. She turns to Janet, who had been standing beside her all along and orders her, “Ensure that that foolish girl isn’t given meals for the foolish stunts her mother just pulled”.
‘’Okay Ma’am’’. Janet says.
“Way to ruin my day”. Alicia hissed as she walked out of the room.
Daciana is dragged out of the gates of the compound by Steven, who immediately throws her to the ground as they reach the main entrance. Her husband Birdwolf and her friend Farah both rush to her aid to help her off the ground.
Birdwolf angrily pushes Steven to the side all while screaming at him, “Do not toss my wife like that!!’’.
Steven gears up to fight the man but Farah intervenes, “Please, please, it’s enough. We need to get her home”.
Birdwolf backs away and crouches down to his wife, though his anger doesn’t subside. Steven also takes a step back and heads inside, but he doesn’t go into the compound just yet. He stays by the gate as he waits for them to finally leave.
“Birdwolf, I begged her, I really did....” Daciana sobs out. She reaches for her husband’s hand to hold as she tries to console herself.
“It will be okay. We will find a way to Daciana. Marceline is a strong child.’’ Farah chides her, hoping to help her see.
“Birdwolf.....’’, Daciana calls out as tears stream down her eyes. Birdwolf sighs. His eyes sting but he blinks them back and puts on an encouraging smile for his wife to see.
“Everything happens for a reason”. It is all Birdwolf says before he lifts his wife off the ground in a bridal style.
They are leaving when Farah says, “It is, with this she might be exempted from the choosing.”
Steven smirks to himself as he immediately grabs the last sentence that sweetens his heart. He wastes no time and hurriedly locks the gate. He then runs to the main house where he looks for Madame Alicia. At first, he doesn’t see her, only spotting Janet, who is her maidservant.
“Where is your Madam?”. He hastily asks her while the smile on his face grows very big.
Janet raised a brow at him, unsure of the cause of his happy mood. She, however, doesn’t say anything, only pretending not to see.
“She is taking a rest at the Gazebo”. Janet answers sincerely.
“Thank You”. Steven said excitedly.
Steven hurriedly rushes to the back yard where the gazebo is located. True to Janet’s words, he saw Madame Alicia not too far away taking some fresh air from the gazebo. Steven walks up to the Gazebo and excuses himself for a conversation.
“Ma’am, may I speak with you?’. Steven asks. Alicia turns immediately to face him. She at first is irritated by the disturbance, but when she squints her eyes and notices the bright smile on his face, she decides to give him a listening ear.
“I heard from the Birdwolves that they plan on using your punishment as a blessing in disguise”.
“Blessing in disguise?”. Alicia asks, sitting up.
“Yes”. Steven replies, giving her time to figure him out.
Alicia thought for a brief second before smirking, “I can’t believe I never thought about that”. Alicia got up from her seat and paced around the Gazebo. She immediately threw the drink in her hands and screamed out.
“A fool I was. The Birdwolves know that if a slave is arrested by their master on charges of assault, she is no longer fit to be chosen. How stupid I was to almost fall for the fake tears”. Alicia hit the table in front of her while she shook her head uncontrollably.
“That’s why I thought to tell you”. Steven smirked out.
Alicia smiled at him, “Oh you did well. You can expect the bonus at the end of the month.”
Steven knelt with his head on the floor, “Oh thank you ma’am”.
“ As for Marceline’, Madame Alicia looked at a distance with a devilish smirk on her face, “I have the right punishment for her, One that would put an end to all relationships.
