Alli woke with a start at the sound of her alarm. She looked over at Eli’s side of the bed and slid her hand across the empty sheets. He had been leaving for training before she woke for the past week, but for some reason today it made her feel so lonely.
Last night she had every intention of having a serious conversation with him, but they had spent the night sharing funny high school escapades instead. It had been nice to share fun memories and learn more about each other without feeling the pressure of his and everyone else's expectations of her.
She told him about the time she and her friends had added bubble bath to the fountain in the front lawn of the school in the middle of the night. It had bubbled over onto the lawn for a couple of days before they finally drained it.
