Chapter 20

After finishing her hot chocolate, Jake took her mug and placed it back on the tray, then silently grabbed her hand and led her to his bedroom. His hand felt warm in hers, and it felt so nice to finally hold it, knowing they loved each other. When they reached the bed, she reached for his shirt, fully expecting to cement their love for one another physically. He gently placed his hand on top of hers as she fumbled with his buttons. “Not yet,” he said quietly, pulling back the covers of the bed and guiding her. Once she was laying down, he carefully tucked her into the warm, luscious blankets. “But trust me, there will be plenty of time for that later!” He sat next to her on the bed and gently brushed a stray hair from her face. “Try to get some rest now,” he said softly, “I can tell you are exhausted. If you’re up to it, this afternoon we will jump back into the wedding festivities.” Bella stared at him, starting to protest, but then realized she was looking at him through already half-closed eyes. Maybe she was more worn out than she realized, and she’d rest for just a moment… ****** Bella stretched luxuriously as she woke up from the most resting sleep she’d had in a long time. Sunlight streamed through the windows, and she lazily looked around Jake’s room. It was similar to hers, but larger, and sparse of any personal effects. Bella shrugged this off, knowing the cottage was just a resort rental, and slowly sat up on the edge of the bed. She stood up and walked to the bathroom, staring at herself in shock. Her hair was a disaster, her makeup from the night before had smudged, and her dress was wrinkled. She glanced down to the counter and was surprised to see her own brush sitting there, next to her toothbrush. “Huh,” she said to herself as she picked up the brush and quickly combed through her hair. Curious, she walked back to the bedroom and opened the wardrobe. Hanging in a neat row were the collection of outfits she and Jake had picked out together in town, plus a few dresses she didn’t recognize. She was gently sorting through them when Jake entered the room behind her. “I hope you don’t mind,” he greeted he with a smile, “But I took the liberty of moving your things in here with mine.” Her lips curled up slowly at the corners and she raised a single eyebrow. “Presumptuous, aren’t we, Mr. McGreen?” she said silkily. Jake jammed his hands in his pockets and frowned a bit. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean…” he started to stutter. Bella grinned and strode over to him quickly, placing her hands on his chest and looking up at him with wide, innocent eyes. “I was just teasing. I think it’s sweet you did that,” she said, placing a delicate kiss on his cheek. “I just figured, it would save time. For convenience sake, really. Logical,” he said, leaning down closer to her face. She closed the distance between them by another inch, staring at his thick, luscious lips. “Logical,” she repeated in a husky whisper, l*****g her lips. “And there’s no way I’m letting you out of my bed again,” he said gruffly, pushing her back toward the bed and throwing her down on it. “You better not,” she dared him, sitting up and pulling her tired dress over her head in one swift movement. He shed his shirt and jeans just as quick and laid down on top of her, his full length resting against her chest, her legs, her abdomen. His warm skin made her feel tingly and she shifted up and down a few times to enjoy the pressure he was placing on her. Somehow, he grew harder still between her legs with her subtle movement, so she felt emboldened to press harder up against him while also squeezing her thighs around him. “Bella,” he groaned, reaching one hand behind her back and effortlessly flipped the two of them over so she was then sitting on top of him. She grinned wider. “I like this,” she purred, leaning down over him so that her breasts fell above him, her ni***es barely grazing his strong, hard chest, she rocked back and forth slowly, teasing him with her breasts, while also sliding her warmth up and down his hardness. “Oh. My. God,” he grunted as she began applying more and more pressure. He gently shifted her with one hand so he entered her the same time his fingers began working magic along her cl*t. “Ohhhhh,” she groaned, arching her back and throwing her head back, “Yessssss.” Together, they moved faster and faster. She pushed against his chest with both hands to allow him to thrust even deeper. “Oh my God…”they both gasped in unison as she felt him release inside of her, stars exploding in her belly at the same time. He thrust one final time and she collapsed down on him, gasping for air. “That was incredible,” he finally said, once he caught his breath. “It was,” she said simply. “I could do that all day. Stay right here all day,” he murmured into her hair. She brushed the hair from her face and slid off him, down to the side. She rested her head on his chest but already missed the feeling of him being inside her. “But we can’t. It’s a big day! Bachelor and Bachelorette Party Day!” “Ugh, don’t remind me,” he groaned. Suddenly inspired, she jumped up off of him and opened the top drawer of the dresser, pulling out a pair of jeans and a simple, soft, long sleeve shirt. “What’s wrong with that?“ she asked. Dressed, she turned around to see him watching her lazily, taking everything in. He still sprawled across the giant bed completely n***d, and she blushed a little under his intense gaze. “I just got you into my bed, I’m not very happy about you already getting out,” he pouted. She began brushing her hair again. “Oh? It’s an overnight thing?” Jake groaned and rolled out of bed, quickly dressing as well. “Sorta. Yes. I mean, we are all going down together, but we will be spending the night separately and then drive back up together tomorrow.” Her interest was piqued. “Drive where?” He rolled his eyes. “A casino in Connecticut. Gage and Jordyn each have a separate suite for the night, so once we get there, no fraternizing with the enemy.” He wiggled a finger at her and grinned that silly, lopsided grin of his. Bella laughed and grabbed his finger, quickly placing it in her mouth and slowly pulling it out as she sucked on it. His eyes went wide and she giggled again. “I think it sounds fun,” she teased, racing for the living room. He caught up with her in less than two steps and pulled her close to him, covering her mouth in a possessive kiss. As always, heat exploded from where their lips met, and when he finally pulled back, she was a little dizzy. “That doesn’t get old,” she whispered. “It does not,” he replied, grabbing her hand and pulling her to the door. “Let’s go grab some lunch. You must be hungry. And then we will find out if there’s anything Jordyn needs us to do.” “Sounds good,” Bella replied, “Let’s go.” *** Up at the main lodge, they grabbed sandwiches from a glass counter in the upstairs room where Bella had first met Jordyn, drinking spiked hot chocolate. “How could that have only been a couple days ago?” Bella wondered as she sat with Jake, their thighs touching, eating their lunch. “It seems like years ago.” Suddenly, a vibration in her pocket brought her out of her reverie, and Bella pulled out her phone. “Sorry,” she mumbled to Jake, as she turned the screen on and saw it was Sara. “Poor Sara,” she said to Jake. “She feels out of the loop.” “You guys seem close,” he said, picking up their sandwich wrappers. “We are. After my dad…and then David… when I arrived at the motel, I felt like I had literally nobody. But Sara just welcomed me right in, without any questions. She’s like family to me now.” Jake nodded. “I’m sorry. But I’m glad you have her.” “Everything good. Bachelorette party in Connecticut tonight- can you believe it?! Things great with Jake. Xo.” Bella quickly texted her. “Me too. Now, where’s that sister of yours? I want to see if we can do anything to help.” Bella looked around the large room, but even though it was bustling with a lot of activity, she didn’t see Jordyn anywhere. “I want to help, too. But first, there’s one thing I have to do,” Jake said, gently pulling her chair back and offering her a hand. “Okay…”she said cautiously, following his lead as he gently guided her toward the glass doors heading outside. Outdoors, another massive wooden terrace stretched before them. He led her to the railing and the two of them stared at the open expanse of mountains, trees, and snow that was completely surrounding them. She took a deep breath in. “It’s truly gorgeous.” He turned toward her and took both of her hands in his. “You’re truly gorgeous,” he said simply. Pleasure bubbled throughout her, as it always did when he complimented her, and she knew, in that instant, that she could stand a lifetime of feeling that way. Panic started to rise up in her throat, because even though he’d told her he loved her, he’d never said anything about the future beyond the wedding week, and she suddenly didn’t know how she’d ever be able to continue living her life without him, now that she knew what it felt like to be loved by him. He dropped her hand and reached into his pocket. “I love you, Bella, and I want to give you everything you never had before. I want to start a brand new, fresh life with you. We can go anywhere and do anything, as long as we are together.” Bella’s heart quickened as he pulled something from his jacket. “What is going on??” her mind raced. “I love you,” he said again, holding out a slim, velvet box with a little bow wrapped around it. Bella looked down at the box and then back up at him again. “Go on,” he prodded gently. “Open it.” Bella took the silky soft box from his hands and admired it, rubbing her finger along the top. Already, it was a far more elegant and extravagant gift than David had ever given her. Enjoying watching her reaction, Jake just smiled at her, waiting patiently. Gingerly, she slipped the shiny gold ribbon from the box and handed it to him. His eyes glistened as he took it from her. She bit her lip and lifted the top from the box. “Oooh,” she breathed, tears silently sliding down her cheeks. “Jake.” Inside the box, a delicate silver charm bracelet lay nestled inside the velvet, a single charm at its center. Bella lightly touched the intricate snowflake, covered in tiny pave diamonds. It sparkled in the midwinter sun. “May I?” Jake asked, lifting the chain from the box and clasping it around her wrist. “It’s a new bracelet for a new beginning. We can get more charms we we travel places together, but I thought the snowflake would be a good start, since the day you got lost in the storm was the day I realized I loved you.” “It was?” Bella asked, looking up at him with her eyes. “It was.” She touched the thin silver rope on her wrist. “Thank you, Jake. It’s perfect,” she whispered, still crying. “You’re perfect,” he responded, kissing the tip of her cold nose. “It’s…such a thoughtful gift. It means so much to me,” she managed to say, though so many emotions were welling up, it was hard to talk. He pulled her close to him so he could wrap an arm around her waist. “I’m glad you like it,” he said, as they walked back into the lodge together. “It’s only just the beginning.”
