CHAPTER 4

1100 Words
ARYA'S POV I was sure my alarm clock would have woken me up by now but just to make certain I didn't wake up late, I also had my iphone alarm set at the same time. Strangely none of them rang out today and I was feeling a bit tired and lazy in bed. "I am going to going to be late to work today". I muttered, unsure if the words actually came out of my mouth. I was reminding myself of the need to get up. I have been called "sleeping beauty" before and I was indeed beautiful and a deep sleeper. I opened my eyes slowly, unsure if I closed the curtain last night not to be blinded by the bright rays of the early morning sun. "I guess I remembered..." But stopped my sentence suddenly halfway as I realized I didn't recognize this place. The window and curtain of my bedroom were no where in sight. The room looked dark and a quarter as decent as my bedroom. It looked like a storage room and the air was stuffy inside. I rolled on the bed from the left side to the right side, to check if I could find a curtain and a window and to get a better of the room. "JESUS!" I screamed in shock, as I covered myself with the bedsheets. I was stunned by the male figure standing by the corner of the room half naked. He was staring at me and I couldn't tell how long he had been standing there. "Who are you? Why are you here? What do you want with me?" I asked, as I moved to the opposite edge of the bed, far away from him. The words of my mouth came out all mumbled up, I was still in shock. Just then, the male figure switched on the only light source in the room, a light bulb close to the bed. I watched as he stepped out from the darkness into the light. "ARTHUR!" I was very happy and relieved to see him. He was the least person I was expecting to see as I woke up. How did he end up in here? How did we end up spending the night in the same room? Had we been intimate last night? I had these questions running through my mind, as I let my eyes stray from his handsome face to his naked upper body. It was as I imagined, he was athletic and in shape but there was something else on his body. "You have numerous scars? What happened to you?" I was concerned. Now I could see Arthur's face clearly under the light, he didn't look very happy to see me. "Tell me please, what happened last night?" I repeated again, as I crawled to the opposite edge of the bed to get close to him. "The werewolves you sent here, did this. You surely must recall what happened outside my house last night". He said coldly, as he stared hard at me. "YOUR EYES, THEY TURNED RED LAST NIGHT!" I suddenly remembered. Last night, I tried to get away from him but was held back, kidnapped and after that everything went dark. I didn't run away from him this time around, I was curious to know more about what he had revealed to me last night. I stood up from where I knelt at the edge of the bed, as I stopped in front of him. "Am I like you Arthur? You said my kind are not welcomed here, am I a werewolf too?" I asked. I was no longer disgruntled with the news. I was open to it now, knowing I shared this special connection with him. "YES BUT I MEANT WHAT I SAID LAST NIGHT - WEREWOLVES ARE NOT WELCOMED IN MY HOUSE!" He was candid. His eyes suddenly flashed red as he poured out his anger. I didn't mean to upset him, I didn't know why he hated me so much when I got close to him. "I am sorry, I didn't know I was a werewolf!" I cried out to him. "I only found out last night after you told me". I whispered looking away from him, trying to fight back my tears for how he was punishing me. "Thank you, for risking your life to save me. I wouldn't have made it out there on my own". I thanked him sincerely from my heart without looking up at him. Everywhere was suddenly quiet and he drew closer to me. Maybe he had finally realized the errors of his ways and was moving closer to hug and console me. He was finally going to be nice and considerate towards me. Just then, I heard him sniff the air surrounding me. He hadn't yet hugged me and I stood there motionless. "You have managed to turn it off, your werewolf scent is no longer on". Arthur said to me, with a smile on his face, the first time he would smile at me. "Does that mean we are cool and I am no longer in trouble?" I smiled back anxiously as I didn't know how I had managed to turn it off. I guessed I managed to turn it off when I passed out. Now, with my werewolf scent turned off, I think Arthur and I can finally get along. There were so many things I was dying to find out about him. "No! It means it is safe for you to go home now and never return back here ever again!" Arthur answered coldly. I watched as he stepped away from me and out of the room on a flight of stairs, revealing I was in his basement. I should have known he had hidden me away down here from the werewolves but I was so distracted by his handsomeness and scars to figure that out. I stood there frozen, staring at the open entrance that led out of the basement, remembering the last words he said to me. "No! It means it is safe for you to go home now and NEVER RETURN BACK HERE EVER AGAIN!" His smile towards me was because he could get rid of me now and I was deeply troubled by it. I couldn't believe Arthur had ended our conversation in such manner. I couldn't believe he had asked me never to see him again! It made me wonder if he hated me now more than before or if he had always had this much hatred for me the very first time we met?
