ARYA'S POV
I walked rather quickly through the woods for fear of being seen by one of the werewolves from last night. I was told to do so although I had no clue who they were.
As I walked quickly, I did with a heavy heart. My fear of being caught by the werewolves was far way less than the pain I felt from within me.
"Not even a goodbye...not even a see you later". I whispered, pouting my lower lip.
I stopped in my tracks abruptly as I suddenly turned to take one final glance at the house Arthur and I had spent the night in together.
I was hoping I would catch a glimpse of him standing outside his porch staring at me from afar but to my disappointment, he was nowhere to be seen. He was probably too eager to get back inside the house, shut the door and enjoy his company.
"He really does hate me for him to be so glad I am gone". I admitted to myself painfully.
I could stand out here for hours staring at his house and I doubt he would even notice I was out here. He paid me no attention whatsoever.
One final sigh, I turned to head back home to where I lived with my parents and younger brother.
Now I could recognize this part of the woods in the light of day. Last night I was disoriented and scared that I couldn't process anything in my head. Now that I was back to senses, I could tell I was only a little distance from the road. It was day and I could hear cars moving close by.
"Damn it!"
"I lost my phone somewhere in the woods!" I said disgruntled.
I had totally forgotten about it, except now I needed it. It was an essential part of my life and I wondered where it could be.
"I can't make it to work today, I need to call in to tell Margaret". I stopped once again in my tracks, with the paved road in sight and only a few metres away.
"Arya, what should you do? Should I go back in search of my phone in the woods or should I go home without looking for it?" I stood there contemplating.
My iphone 14 was the first thing I bought from working at the coffee shop as a waitress. It had taken me 2 months to save up for it and I had since grown attached to it.
"It's hopeless!" I exhaled loudly, letting out a wind of air out my mouth.
"I don't even know where to start to look for it in this vast woods. I can't even remember the exact spot I woke up from". I said defeated. I had only one option left and that was to go home.
I walked up to the side of the road and waited to hitch a ride. I knew I wouldn't have to wait for too long because I was well known, as the face of Oakwood. As I expected, a truck soon pulled to a stop near me and offered to take me home.
I arrived back home to a chaotic scene. It was as if my house had been hit by a tornado but I knew it was not. The other houses, cars and trees in my neighbourhood were all undamaged except for my house.
I got out of the truck even before it stopped, as I ran quickly towards the house my parents and only sibling lived in.
"WAIT!"
"ARYA STOP! IT MIGHT NOT BE SAFE TO GO IN THERE!" The owner of the truck; Charles, screamed from behind me. He was out of his truck as quickly as he saw me jump out.
Of course, I didn't stop to listen to what he had to say. I wasn't thinking straight at this point, I only wanted to be certain my family was safe.
I heard him run after me from behind but he was a chubby guy and slow. I was much faster as I got to the front door of my house before he could get to me.
"MOM, DAD, HENRY! WHERE ARE YOU?!" I called out even before I opened the front door. I didn't get any response but I quickly heard footsteps move inside of the house as I pushed open the door.
"MOM, DAD, HENRY, YOU ARE ALL ALIVE!" I cried out joyfully, as mom and dad rushed to embrace me. Henry also joined in on the hug but not as quickly as he should. He looked to have hurt his right leg.
"MY BABY YOU ARE ALIVE! YOU ARE ALRIGHT! I WAS WORRIED SICK ABOUT YOU!" Mom kissed me on the cheek severally as she embraced me tightly. There were also tears running down her cheeks.
"WE THOUGHT WE HAD LOST YOU ARYA, YOU DIDN'T COME BACK HOME LAST NIGHT AND YOUR PHONE KEPT RINGING WITHOUT A RESPONSE". Dad poured out, almost breaking down in tears himself. I could see he was a nervous wreck like my mother but he was trying his best to hold it in.
"I am very sorry mom and dad...I don't know what happened last night, I got lost in the woods and only found my way home this morning". I said, feeling very sorry for the pain they went through.
"It's not your fault baby, I know you would never run away from home, it is unlike you".
"You are loved here. My thoughts only went to something awful that might have happened to you". Mom said, shedding more tears. She was smiling at me though and I knew her tears were tears of joy.
"I told you so. I told mom and dad not to worry, that you would come back home safely. I am so glad you are back home sis!" Henry said, as he embraced me again.
"I am so happy to see you Henry!" I said as we embraced. He was standing only on his left foot, keeping his injured right foot off the ground.
"Henry, your leg is hurt. What happened?" I was concerned. I had many questions on my mind but seeing my baby brother hurt was more pressing.
"It is not so bad. I can still stand on the leg. I think it is just an ankle sprain". Henry said, as he gently placed his right foot on the ground, to assure me his leg wasn't broken.
It was a good sign but I wasn't totally relieved. The sights inside and outside our house were unpleasant.
"I don't mean to intrude on your privacy but I hope you all are alright?"
"What really happened here?" I heard Charles say from behind us.
I had almost forgotten he was standing outside my house. He had just asked a good question, a question that was on my lips as soon as I arrived.
